About You
I really enjoyed the Teach first taster programme. I had the opportunity to meet many students who also had an interest in education and teaching. The workshops also gave me the opportunity to improve some of my skills. This was very useful. It was also great to chat with the staff about job opportunities.
I felt that I was very valued. The charity paid for my accommodation in London which would have been expensive. They also paid for my meals as well as reimbursing some of my travel costs. This made me feel very valued. When I arrived I was also given a very warm welcome.
I received some support during the programme. I think that it was good that there was not a lot of support as it encouraged the students to be more independent and to think more for them self which is an important skill. There was guidance on how to prepare for the programme.
I think that my skills have developed significantly as a result of the Teach First Taster Programme. Exploring London independently boosted my confidence. Teaching the children was also of great assistance for my confidence. I felt like my leadership qualities improved through leading my group when I did the group work.
The Company
The programme was structured very well. There was a very detailed itinerary for each day of the programme. Breaks were included which was important. The classes were a suitable length of time. It was also well structured for the preparation for the programme as students were emailed in advance of the programme.
The general atmosphere was brilliant. Everyone was very friendly to each other. The staff were so welcoming to everybody, offering refreshments upon arrival. It was great that the students were constantly engaging and therefore there were not any awkward or silent moments during the programme, this created a very good atmosphere.
The company invested a lot in the students. It could be seen that a lot of time and effort was put in to make the event a success. The company really developed the students and I feel that my skills have really improved, especially with my confidence and leadership skills.
I gained a better understanding of what it would e like to work for Teach First. People came in to talk about their experiences with the programme. The company helped them to become a success so it was very nice to hear from them and it inspired us, students, to be a success too.
I gained a good understanding of Teach First and the great work that the charity does.
This content was very valuable. Previously, I was not sure what I wanted to do. However, after the programme, I now have a better idea and I am thinking of working in Education. It would be great to help the children to learn and to progress through their time at school.
Everything Else
I was paid some reimbursement. The company was a charity, so I really appreciated this reimbursement. I am a student and it would have been difficult to cover the costs of the travel and accommodation without any help. Supported was also offered by the company paying for our meals which I appreciated.
Yes, we had the opportunity to meet other firms including a volunteering company which supports children.
The networking opportunities were very good, it was great to talk to other people.
Not really.
I would definitely recommend this placement. It was an excellent opportunity. Expenses were partly paid. I gained lots from the workshops and i have improved many skills. I had the opportunity to work with people from around the country. Plus successful people coming in to speak to us really inspired me.
