    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked in the Assurance sector of PwC, and it was an amazing experience. I spent six weeks working with the St Albans office, and I learnt a lot whilst I was there. I spent time learning about different clients and building my network, whilst also developing my knowledge of Assurance.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of the people that I worked with, and that I met during the internship were extremely helpful. They always provided help whenever needed, and I was never left to figure all the work out on my own. Everyone at the office and at client sites were really friendly and easy to talk to.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support and guidance throughout the whole internship. I was able to message my people manager whenever I needed help. I also had a buddy who I could ask for help from. Whilst I was on client sites there were associates and senior associates who helped me learn more about Assurance.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning of the internship there was not a lot of work to do, however, I kept myself busy doing e-learns and by learning more about Assurance and PwC. A couple of weeks into the internship I was given a lot more work to do, however I was able to organise myself so I finished everything necessary.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • 3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The degree that I am currently studying is Accounting and Finance. A lot of the university work that I am studying is related to Assurance. I do a lot of work with financial statements and Assurance has helped me to understand Financial accounting more. The transferable skills that I have developed will help me at different points in life, and the skills I gained from working in Assurance will help me with graduate jobs, etc.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Throughout my six week internship I was mainly working at client sites. However, when I was in the office everyone was really friendly and sociable. There were drinks nights once every month, and they were very fun to go to. Everyone in the office was extremely helpful, with regards to work and in general.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • At the beginning, during the induction, there was a slight problem with the system, however, I believe that it still went quite well. The induction was extremely helpful, and gave us the opportunity to not only talk to people from PwC, but also interns working in other offices. With regards to the actual internship it was extremely organised. I was given my timetable on the first day, and everything ran smoothly after that.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I believe that the firm invested quite a lot into my development throughout the internship. The induction was very useful in terms of how PwC worked and the type of work I would be doing. The company invested a lot of time helping me to develop my knowledge and skills throughout the internship.

    Sports and Social Club

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Once you have completed the internship the office you are working at will tell you if they want you to come work for them through their graduate scheme. You have the choice of staying at that office, or doing an interview and moving to a different office or a different sector. The prospect of working for PwC on their graduate scheme is very appealing.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The office that I worked in was very sociable. It was a small office, but everyone there was extremely friendly, and easy to talk to. They have socials once very month in the local area. The atmosphere was fun but relaxed. The interns I worked with were very easy to get along with as well.
