Insight in Finance and Business Management Review

It was fantastic, learnt a lot about the role that was required, whilst in a very fun sociable environment, for example there was a social at the bat and ball in Stratford. The insight was very well planned and the people were very nice and easy to talk to if you had any queries.

They had a big emphasis on the fact that they, despite at a very early stage in your career, have invested a lot into you. This feeling was consistent with the way that we were treated and there was a genuine feeling of being a valued member of the firm.

Any guidance was there if it was needed, the programme itself was very well structured and for that reason we generally knew what was going on, but multiple members of staff were available if you needed to ask any questions or had any problems and they were more than happy to help you.

Skill developing was done very well through FitchLearning, in which there were multiple sessions on how to network, the importance of the personal brand, and a CV workshop. Information generally was not for your degree but more so the role that you would be going into and the firm itself.

Structure was fantastic, upon arriving we were greeted, given our nametags and entry passes, and then given our programme schedule, which contained a very detailed plan of what was going to occur and at what times during the period of the insight. The plan was consistent with what happened during the days.

The atmosphere was very welcoming, and this was felt through all people that I spoke to. This included the insight leaders running the programme alongside any interns or seniors that I spoke to. The people on the insight were also very friendly and were a big part in the enjoyable nature.

I would say that the insight was more to do about learning about company culture than anything else. It was a very friendly environment and was the exact opposite of the stereotypical stressful investment banking experience. Company culture was well understood with the way that you were spoken to and treated during the programme.

We were given 4 hours of work shadowing in the morning of the last day of the insight, the work shadowing was in the roles that you would have on rotations in the grad scheme in the same role, and therefore gave you a clear idea about the role, so you review your career path.

As I live in London, I did not require any reimbursement for expenses, however accommodation in a hotel in Stratford and transport was paid for by the company. The only thing that was not paid for was the transport to the social event which was a short stop on the tube.

Social event was in the Bat and Ball in Stratford on the evening of the first day. Food and drink were provided alongside the use of multiple ping pong tables. Networking also was a large part of the insight itself with interns and seniors, with skills learned by FitchLearning in the workshop in the day.

Absolutely, the experience was very enjoyable and has given me a very clear idea of the company culture and the role in the firm. Furthermore it was very nice to get shown around the building and have a look at what it would feel like working there should you apply in the future.
