    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This insight was extremely helpful. I joined two separate teams, Assurance and Deals, as I was very interested in both and wanted to get first hand experience in both departments. The insight was well planned and utilised my short time at PwC greatly. I also had the opportunity to get a one on one meeting with the partners I shadowed and receive feedback on my performance.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I truly felt like I was part of the team, my opinions were valued and my questions were always answered. I was also offered to have a day on-sight which was an amazing opportunity to see what actually happens when audits are being done, and to gain a true understanding of the nature of the job and what it entails.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a great deal of support throughout the insight, all my questions were answered, I had the chance to get feedback on my performance, and every task I had to undertake was explained very clearly to me. I never felt nervous or unsure as I always had someone to go back to and ask incase I needed help.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learning something on paper is very different from seeing it first hand being carried out and done. This experience allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the departments I worked at, and helped me decide what type of career I want to pursue. I learned many skills on the job, but most important of all, I learned the value of teamwork.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured and organised. My time was used efficiently to allow me to experience as much as possible. Having a one on one with a partner was incredibly helpful. It Helped me understand what to expect on a day to day basis if i undertook a similar job, what type of help you receive and what type of skills are required to succeed.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was very comfortable and relaxing, I never felt anxious or nervous! Everyone I came in contact with was extremely nice and helpful. I had the chance to speak with many team members of different levels and they all answered my questions and provided me with insights. When I am asked what I enjoyed at PwC the most, my answer is always the people.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • no applicable - I was only with PwC for 3 days.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It helped me greatly. As I had the opportunity to work with two different teams, I got a good understanding of what each job entails. Going into the placement, I had already decided what line of services I wanted to choose, but the insight mad me realise that what I thought I wanted is not actually what I would enjoy the most.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Having spent an entire day shadowing the partners, I got to see what their job is actually like and what they do on a day to day basis. Before the insight I assumed each employee had a very structured and rigid schedule, but what I realised was that it was extremely flexible!

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Extremely valuable. I went into this with my future career planned. I thought I knew what I wanted to do and what I would enjoy. The insight helped me realise how wrong I was. It helped me to get to know myself better and which line of service was more suited for me.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid above minimum wage for my experience which is very helpful.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • plenty of opportunities! All I had to do was ask. Every employee was extremely accommodating, and open to questions. I spoke with approximately 7 employees in different lines of service and they all took time out of their day to explain what their job is and what tasks they undertake.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • no applicable - I was only with PwC for 3 days.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • From drama to sports, you are never out of events to be part of or attend.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I have already recommended this insight to all my friends and any students I meet that are in their first year of study. As I said, learning and reading about something is completely different from experiencing it first hand. I helped me realise what line of service I am most suited for and what type of job I would be successful at.
