    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really good insight into working life. Got to work on big projects and be part of a team at the top level for this kind of work. Had loads of great social experiences outside the office too that really helped me to understand both aspects of working life over a longer period of time.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The majority of work I completed was returned with useful feedback, and I was always given an idea of how what I was doing related to the overall project and how it would be used by other members of the team. This made your work, especially the less interesting tasks, feel like a good use of time.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Any task that you had to complete was always well grounded and explained, and if you had questions throughout they would always be answered - either by the person that gave you the task or a more junior member of staff on the same project. Had weekly meetings with a supervisor which were useful for feedback and support.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How much work you had to do varied quite dramatically on a day to day basis, and I got the impression it would vary even more on different years of the same internship. I was working on live projects so at points these would slow down and speed up, as you would expect in the real workplace. Some days I had next to nothing to do, after asking colleagues for work, and other days I didn't stop for the full working day.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility in that I was trusted to complete tasks myself, after a short introduction from the person I would be working for, however given my experience there is a limit to how much useful output you can actually provide so tasks would never really be that important and require you to hold much responsibility.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My degree is fairly different to my work at Deloitte, so in terms of technical skills relating to my studies there was be very little crossover. However, a lot of the soft skills I developed, like email communication, getting used to networking, and other such skills have been very useful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • On the whole very friendly. The majority of people I spoke to were happy to take time out of their day to discuss their line of work, even those from different parts of the office would sit down and tell me what they got up to on a day to day basis.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was given a list of tasks initially that it would be good to get done by the end of the project, and aside from that it was pretty free flowing and you could work on projects you were interested in and with people that you got on with. There wasn't many set tasks to achieve outside of the first week.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Got offered a job at the end of the internship after an interview in the last week. Was really sold on the benefits of working at the company, and a large amount of my colleagues were also offered jobs after their interviews which they took. The company seems like a great place to work at.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Had a few friends working in the same office as me that I had lunch with most days but despite the large amount of people also in the London office, there wasn't many opportunities to socialise with other placement students. Was invited to a few social events with colleagues which were fun and a chance to get to know them better
