    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was enjoyable because I was able to get involved with a wide range of tasks and work with many different people throughout the service line. This meant I was able to learn a lot from everyone in that sector, and as a result, improve my skills. The support and explanation of how to carry out tasks provided by my colleagues was excellent which made the experience more enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were always very friendly, approachable and helpful from the first to last day. This allowed me to get involved with more projects and communicate with as many people as possible and hence build more relationships throughout the team. I was always able to ask for guidance if there was something I didn’t understand and I always felt that when I was asked for my opinion of a situation it was valued by the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Due to the approachable nature of the team, I always felt that I could approach someone if there was something I didn’t quite understand. Meetings with my line manager were very beneficial and helped me develop throughout my placement and made me view some areas with a new improved perspective.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was able to find work to do that would be beneficial for the team I was working with. The tasks would be varied and as a result would help me improve a wide range of skills. Some days were busier than others but that is always to be expected and everyone was very helpful and allowed me to help participate in what they were doing.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My responsibilities grew throughout the placement as I learnt more about how the industry worked. I was always given projects to work on and many complimented what I had been studying. However, some projects did not and this helped me become a broader person as I learnt a lot about communication and people through these tasks.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The scheme has been very useful for my degree. The insight into how the industry works has allowed me to look at out lectures with a real life application to the topics we are exposed to at university. The time management and multi tasking skills I learnt are essential and the program was a fanstic opportunity to develop them. Through the group presentation exercise it has helped me improve my presentations and this is proving to be very beneficial.
