    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • People were extremely helpful and I learned loads. The internship was 5 weeks long which is relatively small but I learned a tremendous amountduring those five weeks. The people I worked with were great, and the recruitment team held several events per week. I did my internship in tech consulting (London).

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued: my colleagues were very helpful and let me get used to the job without pushing me too hard at first. When they realized I was getting more comfortable they did not hesitate to give me more responsibilities, which was greatly appreciated. I felt like I was entirely part of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had several one on one discussions with the more senior people of my team and they did not hesitate to answer questions. They gave me regular feedback and were overall very friendly and nice to work with. Whenever stuck, I could go up to my colleagues and talk it out.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy enough most of the time, the work load increased throughout my internship the more comfortable I got, which led to a very nice learning curve. I really liked the way we split the work and how after some time I was comfortable enough to take on more responsibility.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It started with quite low stakes low risk work which was given to me in the first few days in order to get used to the pace. After a while, I was given more important tasks that I had to do with someone else or even individually sometimes, which was very interesting.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned a lot about working independently and managing time. I learned a lot about the tools I used too (powerpoint, excel, taking notes, talking to clients...). Going forward this will definitely be valuable. I also had opportunities to practice my networking skills, with colleagues or other people from the company.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was very serious and professional but the team and I got along very well. Work had to be done but this did not mean that colleagues are not friendly. By the end of my internship, I got along with everyone very well and truly enjoyed to get to know everyone.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation was great and very well managed by the HR team as well as other employees involved with the internship scheme. Socials were great and very lively, with venues booked and way more than often food planned for everyone. Overall, I had a great time and do recommend it.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As an intern, all the company did was invest in me. Events were organised to talk about interview skills with managers, give tips about how to use the different tools that I had to use throughout my experience there.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Overall, it was very appealing: the company in itself is very flexible and the variety of opportunities is great. Through discussions with more senior employees, I found Deloitte offers a great amount of opportunities to specialise (it is encouraged) and provides the necessary support to do so (training, project opportunities etc).

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Events were being held all throughout the internship, several a week, among fellow interns. I went to the majority of them and found it very easy to socalise. There are more than enough opportunities to do so. Events include events to discover more about deloitte, going out to get drinks, and there even was a treasure hunt.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is a very expensive city, and the city centre is extremely expensive. The commute takes a long time and is far from cheap. Food is also very expensive and I more than recommend home cooked meals. Going out for drinks in the centre of London is very expensive which can make it difficult.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was great - any pub around the area where I worked was filled with people coming out of working after 6, and people were very friendly. London has more than enough places where to go out - between pubs, nightclubs, restaurants... Besides the price, there should not be any reason for you not to fid a place.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work such as social events with other interns. This included a treasure hunt, getting drinks in several venues, tours of different divisions of Deloitte with presentations, etc. Deloitte also has clubs to do things outside of work such as charity work.
