    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 10/10, at Microsoft you are given so many opportunities to get so much out of your year. This ranges from large stakeholder management responsibilities in your role, networking opportunities with friendly experienced professionals to philanthropic events which have such a large impact; such as inspiring young people into tech.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Completely. If you make a positive impact it is made known, and you are always so valued for your ability and bravery of succeeding (or simply being) in situations that even those later in their careers may find tricky to over come.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Due to the open culture at Microsoft, a culture you may expect of a modern technology magnate, you are given as much support and guidance as you need. This comes in on the job training or a wide variety of training courses on offer. Everyone is willing to help you succeed and see you do well as an early in career member. It is a great place to network and develop more than just your business area, as so many seasoned professionals are happy to share what they've learned; such as in structured mentoring sessions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My role, like all roles hired across the internship was demanding in nature, providing me with a wide range of scenarios to test myself in; much more than I imagined before I started.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At Microsoft you are hired to add value to your team and constantly tested to take on more; if that is what you wish. You are given the perfect environment to get as much responsibility out of your year as you want; ranging from leading the projects in your business team to leading stretch project teams.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They key developed skill from being at Microsoft, my confidence, is something I was able to build on exponentially through the year due to the guidance, responsibility and pride of representing a company like Microsoft; even. You return to uni with a lot more confidence to tackle your studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxing and friendly- people are always kind and friendly and the feel is backed by various coffee shops, an indoor swing area, super large bean bag area and various events which go on throughout the year.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. Structure provided in your role and enforced further by the great HR team who are always around to help and provide guidance if needed.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Massively- Consistent personal development training with mentors and managers, 24/7 access to online trainings, full access to workshops on a huge range of topics, and HR lead personal development days throughout the yeat

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
