    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with Enterprise. I got to know many areas of the business and was set targets in terms of sales, service and marketing. I enjoyed being able to go out into the local area and speak to businesses and customers, and I liked getting to know another industry.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt truly valued by everyone at my branch, we had a great team who made the day-to-day tasks fun. I made some lifelong friends with those in my branch, and I also got to know people from all around the company at regular training days at head office which were very helpful.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers and MTs who had already done what you were doing were always there to help, and the Head Office staff were brilliant at getting us started and trained up. I enjoyed completing my training with more experienced employees as they were able to pass on their knowledge and tips.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked in a very busy branch so days were often non-stop. I would be serving customer after customer and always on the phone on busy days which made them go really fast. The hours are long but there was always something to be doing to fill them, and they days were broken up with tasks.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the chance to look after my own accounts and liaise with them often. There is a lot of autonomy at Enterprise and you are often left to make decisions on your own - something which is rare in undergraduate positions. I felt like I had a good level of responsibility without being too overwhelmed.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have only just returned to Uni, however I am already using the skills i developed. I have become a lot more confident and have been able to do presentations in front of full lecture theatres, and I learnt a lot about a new industry which is vital in a business and management degree.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office had a great atmosphere - we all got along really well and had a laugh. I felt welcome from the minute I walked in and always aimed to make new colleagues feel the same. Even on busy days we made it enjoyable and the atmosphere made the days more fun.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised, and I appreciated the adjustments that were made to my recruitment process as I was out of the country for some of it. We were given extensive training which allowed us to get to know the company and our colleagues before going into branch, and this really helped when we did go. It was extremely smooth and the three months went by in a flash.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is continuous training both at head office in branch, and you are given targets to hit in terms of development. Training nights add to this, and you can always ask any questions. You are able to get involved with so many areas of the business that you are constantly developing your skills.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Enterprise make it easy for you to continue employment with them, with part time opportunities in your final year of uni and are keen for you to come back once you have your degree. You can very quickly progress which is one of the main motivations for joining at such an early stage in your career.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene amongst colleagues and fellow placement students. We would have branch nights out and also meet up with out training group, and there are also area nights out throughout the year. The social side was one of the best parts of the job and I made some great friends.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I worked where I live so had no additional costs as I was living at home, however Northampton is generally quite a cheap place to work and live with great connections to the M1 and A5.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again, I live there. Nights out in Northampton can be good and there are a lot of options - it is becoming more student friendly.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are opportunities such as charity fundraisers, etc, however I didn't get involved.

    3/5
