    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement has been invaluable to me. Great working / learning environment. I've really enjoyed every minute.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There's a real warmth to Cavendish, everybody really makes you feel part of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From start to finish. My work was structured, and on-hand help was available to me for the duration. As well as structured training and field trips thrown in as part of the programme.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Enough to keep you going, no stress.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a level of responsibility from week 1. I was given a free rein to make changes to existing designs, and was made to feel like my opinion really mattered.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I didn't believe my tutors when they said things like "placement students generally go up a grade when they come back for their final year". Now I understand the logic. it's not further technical knowledge you gain as such.. it's the ability to apply theoretical principles.. and build on your soft skills. These are the types of things you don't get as part of your course.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is always very lively. The people are very approachable and helpful.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The programme was very well structured from start to finish, with the right help in place.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company made it very clear from the start that the internship was something of a 'foot in the door', in terms of future progression with the business.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. I will definitely be pursuing a career with Cavendish Nuclear.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. All of the interns were introduced to each other and encouraged to socialise and work together. As well as being introduced to other graduate cohorts etc.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very good, and quite trendy social scene at Birchwood park. Cheap food too.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Didn't have any experience with this, so can't comment I'm afraid.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The opportunities were there should you want to get involved.

    5/5
