The Role
It felt really good being back for the 4th/5th time. The team had increased dramatically in capacity which enabled me to thus have more jobs to carry out. Of which, the jobs this time were better in the sense that it pushed and challenged me.
Within a few days, I had gotten to know everyone and by the end of my placement, I had carried out jobs for them as well as befriended thetn in the sense that it was hard to believe we were once strangers.
My line manager was helpful all throughout my time there. And even at times when she wasn't in the office, I was supported/given proper guidance to all jobs at hand.
Most of the time, I always had something to do. The only time I was left starved of work, was during my last few days in the office.
I wasn't solely in charge of full projects but I felt I aided my peers wherever they needed it, and I did contribute to quite a lot throughout my time there.
Most of the jobs I carried required me to learn something, whether that be a new programme or maths equations, but nothing was out of my reach. So it didn't quite help out with my degree studies directly, but no doubt what I learnt will be carried forward.
The Company
The office was serious when needed to be, and relaxed when able to.
My email took roughly 2 weeks to be set up. This was less than ideal, but other than that, it was okay.
I had already been there a few times before so I didn't need to be trained as much as, say, a newcomer.
Flexi Time
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very good for me personally. I have a sponsorship with them so hopefully by the time I graduate, I'll have a job with them.
The Culture
There were no other placement students, at least in the sector I was working in.
I'm not entirely sure about that. It is based near the airport so I assume there aren't many housing estates nearby?
There were no clubs or bars around. Only a retail outlet with clothing stores and restaurants.
Not that I knew of, but I'm aware that there are some events during Christmas time and other seasonal holidays.
