    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very much so. One thing is that the nature of the investment banking division means that you become a trusted advisor for boards and senior managements of the world's largest corporates and investors, which is exciting per se. When you are able to immerse in this experience at an organisation like J.P. Morgan, you enjoy yourself to the highest extent possible

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From week 2, I was put on actual client work; from week 5, I was staffed on a live project; and from week 8, I was listening in on client meetings. I like to think that this displays that my team definitely valued me. On top of this, the social setting within the team was very inclusive

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My 'buddies' and supervisors supported me continuously throughout the internship to ensure that I was comfortable and performing at my best. In addition, everyone (including the most senior directors) was very interested in introducing and teaching me all tricks of the trade and guiding me through the organisation, also proactively

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was only as busy as I could handle, but as I wanted to optimise my learning experience, I was very busy as per request. My impression is that you get as much responsibility as you show you can handle - reversely, this also means that you have the opportunity to gain much responsibility quickly

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • 5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship training strongly complements any degree in economics, finance or similar with a highly practical and applicable perspective. The instructors are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and the beautiful settings are priming the students to learn as required. In addition, my colleagues were always ready to answer any intellectually curious questions

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very good. The atmosphere is obviously characterised by an orientation towards business ('productively' competitive, one might say), but given this trait, the atmosphere is very casual and informal conversations are abundant and pleasant. I especially appreciated the willingness of my colleagues to always have time to answer questions or just have a casual chat about the weekend

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. From the first interaction with the company - the application process - to the full-time offer day, one can feel that you are in good hands as a candidate. HR is very professional yet informal during live events, and the teams are adequately informed and determined to enhance your experience

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My impression is that J.P. Morgan invests a lot. The internship kicks off with a weeklong training programme, classified according to level of familiarity with finance theory, as well as potential for more team-specific training (up to 1.5-2 weeks of 10 in total). Additionally, the company organises various opportunities (at least two per week) to meet senior professionals, networking with other interns, and similar events throughout the internship

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing, if you ask me. Not only because of the exposures that I had and the professionals that I met during my internship, but also because - being a universal bank - J.P. Morgan provides opportunities to experience various businesses and markets, herunder strong internal mobility. For instance, many of the senior professionals are J.P. Morgan 'life-timers', which creates a unique atmosphere of experience within the organisation

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
