    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My role at Reed as a Talent Resourcer is quite enjoyable as it's something I have never done before and there are many opportunities to develop my skills and also opportunities to move forward and branch into new areas.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have an amazing team that I work with and they make experience even more enjoyable. I believe that the team I currently work with, within Reed have contributed immensely to making my industrial placement experience a great one.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given great support and guidance and not for once did I feel like I was thrown into the deep end. When I started I had online modules that needed to be completed to gain basic understanding. Following the online training I was supported my colleagues and manager to make sure that I felt comfortable and I understood what I was doing.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Within recruitment your day to day can sometimes vary, at times I have been extremely busy trying to fill roles on time and at times it can be quiet or the perfect balance. Regardless of how busy I may be, I have never felt overly pressured by my team.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibility on my placement, I was equipped with the knowledge I needed in order to do my role to the best of my ability and at times I also took on more responsibilities when I could and when I felt like I could handle it.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The role that I am currently working in isn't directly what I would like to do once I leave university, however I believe I have learnt so much that could still assist me in chosen career field and also generally in life

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We have a really good balance in the office, when it is time to get work done we get it done and when we need a breather and to let our hair down a bit, that is also available. It is extremely important to find the perfect balance that works for you and the company at the same time.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well set up in my opinion seeing as my group of students are the first set of undergraduates the company has had. There is room for improvement but I believe that seeing as it is only the first year of this placement, they have done a really good job in setting it up.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Seeing as I am only an intern at Reed and not yet a permanent employee I believe that some of the training and development for me are limited, however there are still personal training and development opportunities available, they are just limited. I believe that if you are proactive and really want to develop your skills or learn, there is room to do so.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects at Reed are very appealing, there seems to be a lot of opportunities available. For undergraduate students in particular, once you have completed the industrial year with Reed, upon successful completion of your degree with a least a 2:1 in your discipline, you could be offered a place on their graduate scheme for 3 years.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Personally I believe there is an okay social scene but it could be better. Everybody has different preferences on what they enjoy and their own types of social scenes, so I believe that you are open minded then you would enjoy the social scene. My advise to anyone on any type of placement and within any social scene would be to make the most out of it.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lucky for me, my family live in London and have been living in London for years which made it easier and cheaper for me to live and work in London. This is because I wasn't required to pay rent in my family home so I saved a huge amount on this. However living in London by yourself is very expensive unless you are lucky enough to find an affordable property or find someone to share with. I would recommend finding someone to share a place with to decrease living cost or if you can afford to live by yourself then there are loads of places to go out and socialize

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in London is great, there is a lot to do, see, eat and a lot of places to go. You'll always find something to do in London. Many of my colleagues often go out for drinks or go out to clubs and come back with the best stories.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are a lot of activities to get involved in outside of work in London, it just depends on what you're interested in but there is always something to get involved in, in london. For example there are charities, organisations, and groups that you could be a part of , it all depends on your interest.
