I very much enjoyed the vacation scheme at RPC. The vacation scheme gave a throughly useful insight into life at the firm. The experience was a true reflection of the realities of working at a leading law firm and what working here would prove to be like. The HR team put so much effort into the scheme, making it a very enjoyable two week!
I was made to feel very valued during my time at the firm. A great deal of effort was made to ensure that we were exposed to senior members of the firm, who were more than happy to share their insight and expertise. I was given interesting and relevant work to complete and my team provided detailed feedback and praise, which made me feel very well valued.
I received a great deal of support and guidance during this vacation scheme. I was assigned a trainee buddy and a supervisor, who were both very supportive throughout my time at RPC. I recieved comprehensive feedback at the end of the scheme, which offered constructive guidance on how to improve and succeed in the future.
The skills I developed and the information I recieved will certainly help me in the future. This scheme taught me the importance of proper time management, as well as developed my communication and networking skills. Furthermore, the information I recieved on this scheme will prove extremely useful upon my return to university.
The structure of this vacation scheme was well thoughtout by the HR team. There was a great balance of project work, skill workshops and social events! We also had time to interact with all levels of lawyers at the firm, which is very rare in a two week scheme. I was also pleased that we were able to work in two different departments, both in key practices in the firm, which gave us a well rounded view of the firm.
The general atmosphere at RPC was really friendly and welcoming. I found every person at the firm spoke very highly of their experiences at RPC, whilst talking honestly about the more difficult aspects of the legal profession. It felt very genuine and struck me as a firm which truly wanted people to bring their personalities to work with them.
RPC ceratainly invested a great deal of time and resources into this scheme. Our 1st day focused on training and orientation activities to ensure we were well prepared for the scheme. At the end of each week, this was followed up by an 'end of seat review', where my supervisor helped me identify areas for personal development.
The insight helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the firm and this scheme was very reflective of day to day life at the firm. We also had speed-networking with members of the firm which allowed us to ask all of our questions.
The scheme helped me to understand much more about the company culture at RPC. I would describe RPC as energetic, committed and warm. I felt there was a strong sense of working hard within the firm to achieve goals and progress, whilst maintaining strong interrelations between the firm. Overall, I really enjoyed the culture at the firm.
The vacation scheme at RPC was incredibly valuable for me. It has solidified my intentions to pursue a career within the legal profession and has made me seriously consider RPC as a future employer. It has cemented my decision to work at a commercial/insurance city law firm with a broad scope of work and a stellar reputation.
I was paid £275 per week and provided with weekly credit to use in the canteen.
Yes, there were plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting employees of the firm.
