    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed my internship at Bloomberg a lot over the last 10 weeks, given that it provided me with a comprehensive insight into different departments within the firm, as well as a good understanding of what the day to day at the company would look like. The insight into the departments I was placed in was obviously more comprehensive, but it was good to get introductions into other departments as well!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The atmosphere is the most distinctive feature of Bloomberg. No matter what team I was aligned with, I have always felt welcome and appreciated by my colleagues. All of them were easily accessible and always willing to help out, and provided me with constructive feedback based on which I was able to further develop.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All of my managers made time when I asked them to support me on either individual projects or on my overall performance. They were easily accessible and available through different channels. No matter if I just had a quick request that could be solved via IB, or asked them for an actual meeting, I could always count on their support.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Given that I had a lot of freedom within the teams I was always able to schedule my workload rather freely. Obviously there were days when I was busier than on others, but I felt that I always had the opportunity to challenge myself if I wanted, and to cut down on tasks when I felt overwhelmed.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • If I had asked for more responsibility and actively searched for opportunities to take on responsibilities I am rather certain that my teams would have given it to me. However, given that I was rather new to the industry as a whole I did enjoy the fact that I was able to interact with clients directly, but did not have a "scary" amount of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would consider them skills for life as I have not only learned more about the financial markets and the Bloomberg products, but also about how to interact with people on different occupations, particularly within the financial services industry. Furthermore, I also feel that the core values of Bloomberg have also fostered my understanding and awareness of exactly those in my daily life.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere at Bloomberg is great - you can truly see that people around the office enjoy what they are doing and believe in the values of Bloomberg. People appreciate the opportunities they are presented with, and I have never come across a person who was unapproachable or mean in any way.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Bloomberg did go above and beyond in training us as well as providing us with as many networking opportunities throughout the internship as possible. Not only did they invest in extensive training that most certainly comes in very costly, but also in further development opportunities within and outside of the firm..
