    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was an amazing experience. The intern class was very well selected and cooperative, the employees went out of their way to welcome us and ensure we took away as much as possible from the internship and HR were great at organising events. Overall, a great experience with a lot learnt!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues had prepared work for me in advance of my arrival appropriate to my skill level, yet still in a way that contributed to their goals. They went out of their way to think of tasks that I could help on and were always thankful for any contribution.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and guidance was always available. All that was required was asking and all team members (not just mentors) were willing to help and answer questions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This depended on the day but usually very busy.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I personally was given a lot of responsibility very early on, which I wanted, but at the same time there was support and feedback for my work. Similar to how busy you are, you are given more responsibility depending on the time e.g. if some of the team members are on holiday.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills for life is accurate. Outside of the technical and company specific things learnt, you inevitably learn much more in terms of people skills, how to work under pressure, how to be as efficient as possible and how to manage a work-life balance that keeps the job enjoyable.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It felt like one big team. Everyone was very friendly with and supportive of one an another.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was perfectly organised. HR did a wonderful job with their events and sessions.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a week of formal training but most skills were learnt at the desk. Everyone at the company treated us as if we were incoming analysts so they wanted to develop us as much as we wanted to learn and was feasible for them to teach within the time constraint.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would sign a contract without hesitation. I have experience in other investment banking divisions but I felt this one is genuinely unique.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene among interns and colleagues.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London prices, but it's always free to socialise!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has a great nightlife, whatever you could possibly want in a club is probably available within half an hour of you.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were endless opportunities to get involved in charity work at the company, and it was supported heavily.
