    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was an enjoyable internship, yes! I was able to experience what life was truly like at PWC and was exposed first hand to the culture of the firm. The work I did in auditing was fairly enjoyable and gave me a great insight into what life would be like starting as a grad at PWC. I would highly recommend the internship.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel valued by the colleagues. I felt like the work I was doing was necessary and needed to complete the audit, which was a great feeling. On top of this I was asked to work on the bank holiday which reaffirmed this as it shows that the I was helping my team and the work I was doing was valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Yeah definitely. I was very comfortable asking questions because of the support and guidance offered to me by management and my supervisor. I knew that they were always there to ask questions and help and this made my experience much better as I was a lot more comfortable at PWC.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days I was very busy, other days I was not. It fluctuated significantly. This may have been due to the fact that the work may have been to complex for an Intern, I do not know. But overall, there were big fluctuations in my work load, but I had the dragons den competition to keep me ticking over.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibility, yes, and this was a good feeling. I was allowed to complete EGAs on my own and if I had any queries I felt comfortable asking. Obviously, I was given the easier EGAs, but I still was expected to complete them and contribute to the overall audit.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Yeah, the skills I have developed here will assist me in my degree and beyond. Particularly given that part of my degree is accounting, I know that the skills I have learnt here will assist me in that. I have learnt more about businesses as a whole and the auditing world and all of this will be very useful beyond my degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The the general atmosphere in the office was excellent. It made me realise that PWC would be a great place to work as there felt like there was a real camaraderie in the office between everyone. There were a lot of social events organised outside work and just generally a really great atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Yeah the work placement was well organised. The first couple of days in Windsor were excellently run and was a great way to meet the other Interns in your office and get to know them. Once the work started in the office, it was clear what jobs I was working on and I was told well in advance.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After doing this internship and being exposed to the culture of PWC and what life is like working here, future employment prospects with PWC is extremely appealing. The firm as a whole and the office has been laid back and relaxed but there is still a hard-working environment. It really does strike the perfect balance and working at PWC in the future is something I am wanting to do now.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yeah all of us placement students got along great, and this helped make my internship really enjoyable. I went out for drinks with them, participating in out of office activities with them and socialised with them in the office. We were not really encouraged to socialise together, but did so on our own accord and yeah we had a lot of fun together.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am from Edinburgh so I knew what to expect with the nightlife in the area. I choose to do my placement during the Fringe as I expected that more social activities would be organised during this time. And yeah, there were a number of events organised and the nightlife in Edinburgh, especially during the Fringe, is fantastic
