    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship over the six weeks. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like, however it exceeded any expectations. I did have. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and it was a really nice atmosphere to work in. It was also really nice to go to Windsor for three days at the start to meet all the other interns from around the UK and to keep in contact with them and hear about their experiences at their office.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt incredibly valued by my colleagues and I felt that the work I was doing mattered. Everyone I worked with was very helpful and welcoming which made settling in to the office so much easier. I definitely felt like an important team member on each client I worked on.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The managers and supervisors I worked with throughout the six weeks were very friendly. They gave me independence and I was able to take responsibility for my own work, but were always willing to answer any questions I had and to guide me through more difficult tasks.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In the first week booked onto a client, I didn't have much work to do as it was coming towards the end of the audit. However, my team were trying to find me things to do throughout the week which was really good. The second client I was booked onto, I had lots of work to do and I felt like a team member making a real contribution to the team. When there wasn't much work to do on the job I was booked onto, it was very easy to message/go up to managers and ask if anyone needed any help with anything. People were generally very helpful and would find you tasks to help out with.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt like I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my placement and it felt that the work I was doing was contributing to the audit and I felt that I was helping out my team. I was given independence to complete the tasks I was set, but there would always be someone I could go to with any issues regarding the task.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although the internship was only for six weeks, I felt that I have learnt a lot about assurance and the software and systems they use at PwC. I have been offered a job to come back after finishing my degree and I feel that these six weeks will give me a huge head start when coming back in September next year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • For the majority of my internship I was based at the office and overall, I found the general atmosphere in the office was very friendly and easy going. It was definitely one of the selling points of this internship. The people working in the office were so lovely and welcoming.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was really well set up. The first three days were in Windsor to have inductions and basic training in accounting knowledge and PwC as a company. This induction was for all the interns around the UK and so it was nice to meet lots of different people. It was nice to keep in contact with some of these people as well as you could hear about everyone else's experience in different offices. From there, there was local office induction training which was also really well set up. PwC are used to having lots of interns on a yearly basis and so integrating us into the office was seamless.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot of time and effort into our personal training and development. The investment in the residential training in Windsor for the first three days of the internship meant that we were well set up for our six week internship. I was also given a career coach to help with development within the firm.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects within the firm are very appealing. The six week internship gave me an insight into the every day life of a PwC employee. I have been offered a job after I finish my degree at university and I would love to come back and be employed by PwC full time.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The residential training in Windsor allowed all the interns from around the country to meet and socialise. I have kept in contact with a few people from different offices which has been really nice. There were four other interns at my office and we had a fairly good social scene where we would go out together some evenings and always have lunch together.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are several sports teams such as football and cricket to get involved in within PwC. These sports teams meet once a week. There are also lots of different societies to get involved in if you wanted to. Moreover, there were several social nights that were good to get involved in.
