    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Spring into Deloitte was an insightful two day programme, covering all service lines providing a comprehensive insight of the areas that you can work in at Deloitte. All the staff whether school leavers, graduates, managers or directors were really friendly and approachable and more than happy to answer any questions I had.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued at Deloitte during the two days through the friendly and warm nature of employees that were involved in the event. A lot of time and effort had been put in to ensuring that we developed as many key skills as possible through bringing in an external organisation to lead team building, resilience and communication workshops.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • All staff members that I spoke to were extremely insightful and honest, providing informative accounts of their day to day roles and the variation of work that they can get involved in. We received lots of information about what roles were available to us after the event and what the next steps were for fast-tracking our application. The networking sessions and dinner were a really good way of talking to employees for their advice and tips.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I had the opportunity to develop my resilience and communication skills through the workshops ran, and I was able to further develop my team-working skills during the video making challenge in which I had to work with other students to debunk the myths around women in leadership., this was a great way to get to know and have fun with other students. I thought the workshops run with current graduates based on audit and tax were an excellent way to get to understand further the type of work that is completed within these service lines. All of the skills I developed through this programme will be useful to me not just when I return to University but also for my future career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured, at the beginning of each day we were provided with a run down of what we would be doing that day and there were many small breaks in between each activity. Before we left to go to the hotel n the first day we were provided with information about where to meet and what time to meet at the hotel so that everyone was looked after. Although the first day was quite a long day, I loved how I knew what I was going to be doing and where I needed to be, and the event was very well organised and executed.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was brilliant throughout the programme, There were only around 25 of us and having been on other spring insight programmes where the intakes were a lot larger, I felt that this was the perfect size to hold the event for because it meant that you could really get to know everybody rather than just a few individuals within a group. All the staff were friendly, approachable and so down to earth, and for me I think that the working environment and culture at Deloitte is one that I want to be a part of.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Deloitte invested a lot of time and effort into us as individuals. A lot of effort had been put into making all the workshops as engaging and stimulating as they were so that we could really come away with a better idea of where we wanted to work within the firm.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I definitely was a brilliant way to be exposed to the fantastic working culture at Deloitte and for me what stood out the most was the friendliness and warmth of the staff. The graduates gave a really detailed impression of what we could be doing on a day to day basis, and the qualifications that we would study, and how Deloitte helps you to maintain a good work-life balance.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Spring into Deloitte was a brilliant way to witness first-hand the amazing company culture through the openness of the staff, the amazing social activities that you can get involved in and the charity initiatives like One Million Futures that Deloitte runs. I really got to understand how Deloitte's success is driven by its people and through working at the firm you have the opportunity to work with bright, ambitious people in high performing team, something that really appealed to me.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • As an accounting and finance student I was already looking at Deloitte in terms of future employment, but having been on this spring insight programme, the firm is definitely somewhere where I can see myself having the opportunity to develop as a professional in the future. Through networking with staff and undertaking the workshop activities I decided that Tax was definitely the area that I wanted to work in after graduating.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was provided with overnight accommodation in the nearby Malmaison Hotel in Manchester and my travel expenses to and from the event were fully reimbursed. We also got a taxi to the hotel on day 1, and another taxi back to the office on the morning of day 2 which was covered by Deloitte. We also received dinner and breakfast whilst at the hotel. It really was a lovely experience.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes there were many opportunities throughout both days and we had graduates of whom some stayed with us throughout most of the day. During the dinner we had three members of staff to about five students on a table so we all had the opportunity to ask as many questions as we wanted then.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were really lively, and informative, and all the staff were very approachable and friendly and asked us questions individually about our background and interests. I felt that the staff really wanted to invest time in getting to know us as individuals.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, I found out about the various social events, annual team-building days, charity work and sports teams that you can get involved in at Deloitte.
