    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Nice working environment and colleagues. They are willing to provide useful advice and perspectives about our business and industry for me, so I could hone my business acumen. I also enjoy many of my projects, and the choice of projects is quite flexible so I could always do the jobs I like.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I really like all my colleagues here. They are all nice people and quite enthusiastic about the things they are doing. They are experienced so I could always learn things from them.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I like my people manager and buddy. They are always willing to answer all my questions, and that really helps me finish my projects properly. I also enjoy talking with them about my future career path as they are much more experienced, and this helps me build a more clear career plan now.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I have to say this question actually depends on individuals. The selection of projects here is quite flexible, which means you could get more things to do, as well as fewer. Personally, I think it is quite busy at the peak time (I had three to four deadlines in one week which was a very busy week), but most of time my life could still be balanced which is good.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think the whole leadership is something PwC always emphasise, so I was actually given a good level of responsibility. I could choose most of the projects I like, and my colleagues also trust me that I could handle the tasks well. I like the feeling of being trusted by others.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • From my school, we did not have any programming lesson, so all my programming skills are acquired by myself. This internship provided many chances for me to practice my skills in real-life projects, which is an essential part in terms of learning a coding language and cultivating an engineering mind. I will have some programming lessons next year, so I believe my experience in this summer internship will help me do that part well.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It is a nice and cosy place to work. I really like the chicken provided in canteen every Wednesday.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the internship is well organised in general. I met a lot of nice friends at the first three days of residential induction (and enjoy living in a king-size bedroom). I started my work at the first day of my local training, and I could always find things to do through the entire internship, so I am satisfied with the arrangement of our internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think the company has imparted many things to me from different aspects. We have many training sections and technical panels so I could choose these I like to attend. We also have a large volume of online courses and sources, so I can learn almost all the things I am interested in.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think we have a very good career path here. Every team is willing to do things in a modern way, and chase more efficient solutions, which means we can always find our values.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are a lot of clubbing nights and celebrations organised almost everyday. We also have some team building events so people can know each other better.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The living cost in London is always high, so it is something we can expect as our office is in the central of London. The positive side is that it is close to where I live, so I did not have much transport cost, and most the expenses are refundable as well.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Central London is always a busy place at night, and there are many different activities we can choose to do.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We have some well-organised events outside the work which could be chosen. There are board games, trips and voluntary work provided for us to participate during my internship.

    5/5
