    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My time on the PwC internship has been extremely enjoyable and I have learnt so much over my time here. PwC is at the forefront of Cybersecurity, which meant the work I was doing very hands-on, with countless opportunities to learn and shadow from industry experts across their security function. The team that I was in was also extremely friendly which made for an even better experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From the beginning of the internship I was made to feel like a valued member of the team. Even with the label of "Intern" not once did I feel not apart of the full time team. Having the opportunity to work closely with associates/senior associates on client work and projects made me feel apart of the team as well as participating in both meetings and socials made me feel highly valued by my colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and Guidance is provided throughout the entire course of the internship. When you start you are given a buddy and a careers coach whom help you along your way. Both are extremely helpful in making sure that your time with PwC is well spent, whether that be outlying goals for myself over the internship and setting up shadowing opportunities to providing general support on any issues or queries.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Over the course of the internship I found that I had a really great balance between the work I had to do. There was always something that could be done and new projects would appear constantly, which meant that I was never left doing nothing. I found that there were never any slow periods throughout the internship and work was readily available to those wanted it which was great.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Working for PwC, allows you the opportunity to work on client facing projects. Which means that you are given great responsibility when it comes to the work you are doing. Whether that be going on client site, writing up reports or performing log analysis on client data. Interns are given real responsibility which adds more value to the work that you are doing.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The whole internship has been a massive learning curve for myself, it has opened me up to new areas and ideas for me to explore further. The work is both exciting and rewarding and allowed me to apply concepts that I had learnt from my degree to real life projects. The training has also been excellent as they look to build you from the ground up.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere around the office is great, everyone is extremely friendly and relaxed. The office is also very open, with breakout areas, booths, desks and tables to allow for collaborative work and provides an inviting feel to new comers like myself. With endless supplies of fruit and hot chocolates the office is brilliant.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall work placement is extremely well organised. You start with a 3 day residential on an estate which was amazing and allows for the opportunity to meet other interns from different business units which was great. You are also provided a company laptop at the beginning which means that on the first day at the office you are able to start getting involved in the work.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invests heavily in both training and development across the internship. As mentioned before, the internship starts with a 3-days residential, which they use to introduce you to the business. There was also a Directors/Partners dinner which provided a great opportunity to learn more about the business and some of the projects they are involved in. They also provided basic training on the residential to prepare you for the office work that you would be involved in.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • In regards to Cybersecurity, I was surprised to see how invested PwC are in this area. With the work they do being cutting-edge and in-line with my degree work. Combined with a fully fledged team of great people working together, I could definitely see myself working and building a career with PwC in the future.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The 3-days residential provided a great opportunity to meet some of the fellow interns in different business areas. This allowed me to build relationship with those outside of Cyber which was great as we schedule regular meet ups after work. The staff also organise lunches to keep you in contact with other interns.
