    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship at PwC. I was given work in a number of different areas of tax, giving me wide range of experience. I was given plenty of support and felt comfortable asking questions when necessary. A number of social events were organised so that I was able to get to know the team I was working with.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given plenty of feedback, which allowed me to see what I did well and how I could improve. I was always thanked for my contribution. It was a very friendly environment and everyone seemed very welcoming and happy to help me with any questions or problems I had.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a buddy and a career coach who were both very helpful. They were always happy to help with any questions I had, despite being very busy themselves, and gave me some introductory training at the start of the internship. I felt very supported during my time at PwC.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Although at the start I didn't have much to do, within a week I was being given plenty of different tasks. Anyone providing me with work always checked how busy I was before doing so, meaning I was able to turn down or ask for a later deadline if necessary. This meant I never felt too busy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As I was only here for 6 weeks, I wasn't able to get involved with any big projects and so didn't have any significant responsibilities. This being said, I still had many different jobs to complete and was able to get involved in a small way with lots of different projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working in a new area and with a new group of people allowed me to develop my communication skills which are vital in both my degree and life in general. I believe my EXCEL skills have also improved significantly, skills that I require in my degree studies when analysing data.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a very friendly environment in the office, with everyone seeming happy to be there and comfortable talking to everyone around them. There was a weekly office quiz and plenty of cookies and cake brought in at various points over the 6 weeks. Overall it was a great environment to work in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship seemed well organised, starting with training residential in Windsor before starting work in the office. This allowed me to get to know other interns as well as gaining a basic understanding of some of the different areas of tax, an understanding I was able to develop throughout the internship.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The residential at the beginning of the internship gave me basic training and an insight into the different areas of tax. I feel I massively developed this knowledge during the internship by completing a wide range of tasks in the different areas of tax. I also also given training in the different software used.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been recommended for a graduate job at the end of my internship and I am just waiting for the decision to go through HR. PwC offer most interns a graduate job at the end of their placement meaning there are great future employment prospects for anyone who wants them.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The residential at the start of the internship was very sociable, with meals and activities organised everyday. This allowed the interns to get to know each other. There were also a number of social events organised in my department which allowed me to get to know the team I was working with.
