    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • During my internship at PwC, I felt as if I was a very valued member of the teams that I joined. The people on my team were very grateful for the work I completed with them and mentioned that they treated me exactly how they would have treated a graduate associate.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The people that I worked with were all extremely helpful throughout the duration of the six weeks. Most people encouraged as many questions as possible and are very approachable. PwC uses Google Hangouts as a very fast and efficient way of communicating, this was a very beneficial tool when needing to ask a quick question about the work you are completing.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The beginning of my internship started off very slowly, actually. I believe this was because of the season as many people appeared to be on holiday throughout July. In the later half of my internship I got increasingly busy as I was lucky enough to be put on the same job for the last 3 weeks. This enabled me to go through most of the audit process and henceforth became busier.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I believe I was given a good level of responsibility throughout my internship. I was given access to websites such as Client Connect where I was able to request documents directly from the client that were needed for the testing within the Audit. I worked individually when completing tasks but was able to chat to seniors whenever I needed

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the skills I developed were very useful. I became much more efficient when using Microsoft Excel. I also learnt a lot about the Auditing process which will be helpful when applying to jobs as I will have experience within a financial service. My communication skills have also gotten better which will help me in later job roles and interviews.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very laid back. It was a nice atmosphere to work in. There were areas in which you could work on big tables with other colleagues and other areas where you can would individually within a booth. Good for all types of workers. Everyone is really friendly and usually happy as you are able to sit where you like. People either sit with their friends or with their teams.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invest a lot into their interns. Some say that they invest more training into their interns than their graduates. We had a week long induction which was quite long for a six week internship. However it was beneficial as we were able to network with other interns before we came into the role. We also had a crash course accounting lesson. Within the office it is clear that everyone is very helpful and willing to give up their own time to explain things to you in greater detail. The personal training within my teams were extremely helpful.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment does look very appealing to me. The graduate scheme is a big part of the internship. We are told that our People Manager that we are given at the start of the internship will make the final decision whether we will get the job. You have a final telephone interview on the last couple of days of your internship. In terms of the actual job - I think PwC would be a great place to work for. Everyone is really nice, approachable and willing to help you out.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was lucky enough to have a really great bunch of intern colleagues during my internship. Everyone was really nice and we were able to build strong relationships. We ended up all working together on the same table and therefore we were able to chat about work and ask each other questions before we went to our seniors. It was nice that we were all experiencing this together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • My internship was in London so as you can imagine the prices were not cheap! I actually commuted from my house in Reading for my internship which ended up being much cheaper than getting rent for these weeks. The food and drink prices are expensive but nothing that you wouldn't expect when socialising in London.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were very few opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. We did, however, go for food and drinks with work colleagues on some occasions which was nice. I believe the budget for activities resets in September in PwC so most of the money is spent up in the Summer months meaning the funds were fairly dry by the time our internship came around.
