    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The office had a great sense of community and the culture of the office (drinks, outings, lunch etc.) was really fun. The work was interesting and varied. The loss of two stars is due to a lack of work at times.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued - there was a great sense of community and that the interns were helping out. We were made to feel very welcome and it was clear that the firm was investing in our future.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Lots of advice and always someone to answer questions. Everyone was happy for you to grab them for a quick minute regardless of if they were on your job with you or not.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The biggest drawback, and maybe the only one, was the lack of work at times. We were able to put out "available for work" notices which helped when you had a full day or consecutive days free, but there were times where you were left for half a day or so with nothing to do.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given the responsibility of completing tasks independently and were allowed to approach clients individually with questions. This led to a sense of pride when completing our work.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My degree is unrelated to this internship. However, if I come back to accept a graduate offer, the training and experiences I had would be a great help and a head start.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly. The hot desk approach and the friendly staff lead to lots of conversations with new people. Friday outings were a great way to meet people and talk more informally with colleagues.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised - three days in London with the interns from around the UK for training and networking followed by a two day local induction in our own office. Plenty of on the job support and the opportunity to talk to other lines of services if you desire.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • To a full extent. Three days in London with the interns from around the UK for training and networking followed by a two day local induction in our own office. Plenty of on the job support and the opportunity to talk to other lines of services if you desire. There is always someone to talk to about work and everyone is happy to answer your questions even if they don't know you or aren't on the same job as you. The interns were allowed to complete important work independently and approach clients individually, leading to a rapid improvement in our performance and allowing us to get the most from our time.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • PwC has a great culture and a very young work force, leading to a great office environment. Everyone is driven and hard working, working towards a common aim.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The hot desk system and friendly staff allow you to get to know your colleagues quickly. Lunches, drinks and outings on Fridays (e.g. to the races, balls) are good fun.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Glasgow - average prices, but socials subsidised by the firm.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Glasgow - great nightlife - pubs, bars, clubs and events.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sports clubs, socials on a Friday (e.g. drinks, the races), balls etc.

    4/5
