    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the insight into corporate life at KPMG. The ability to network and work alongside highly skilled and talented auditors is something that not many people have been fortunate to experience, at such an early stage in their career, and the lessons I learnt off them all will be invaluable for my future development.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I feel like I felt highly valued during my 4 weeks at KPMG. The induction days enabled me to get a first glimpse of the way KPMG operate, before I was sent out to client sites. Even when on client site, I was always able to ask any member of the team any questions I may have, and they were always more than willing to answer.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Whilst on client site, I received plenty of support. The one thing I learnt quickly was that if I ever had any doubt about the work I was completing, then I could always ask someone. This meant I was able to pick up new skills extremely quickly and complete work to the highest standards expected.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed and improved upon included communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment and my networking. I believe this will help me in my degree as all the aforementioned facets are present in multiple situations across a typical university year, as meeting people will always happen.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured. A clear plan was set out and I was able to view my timetable across the whole of the four weeks, online. Within my teams on client site, I was given a timetable to work by, which allowed me to be aware of what work needs to be completed and when.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very pleasant atmosphere where everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their work. Numerous socials and other events ensured that all interns and myself remained thoroughly entertained across the four weeks we were at KPMG. Everyone was very approachable and this helped to ensure that I enjoyed going to work every day.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • invested sufficiently. always received help off others, so long as i asked for it.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Very well. Learnt about the day to day life of an auditor at kpmg.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Extremely helpful. Learnt a lot about the culture of a big4 firm.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Highly valuable. This is because the activities and tasks I completed on a daily basis were one's that an associate auditor would have to complete, whilst on the graduate scheme at KPMG. This enabled me to have the best possible insight into what I could be working on, should I work at KPMG as a graduate, which has allowed me to decide on my future career path more.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I receive a highly competitive pro-rata vacation scheme salary and benefited from being able to claim back expenses, which any other employee can benefit from too. This included mileage expenses when travelling to client sites and lunch allowances of £3.30 when in the office and £5 when on client site.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many social opportunities amongst the interns. This included an Escape the Room and a dinner with all the other interns in my office and a lunch at the end of the scheme. With other KPMG workers, there was an Audit activity day. This enabled me to speak to multiple people on countless occasions, whether it be graudates or directors.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Extremely well organised and enabled me to meet new people and learn about their experiences within the firm. Also, enabled me to learn more about my fellow interns, which I felt invaluable as I could potentially be spending a lot of time with them, should we all work on the graduate scheme at KPMG.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Heard about them through fellow workers, however they were not that explicit.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. Provided me with the best possible insight into Audit, at a Big4 firm. The ability to network with and work alongside highly talented auditors is something not many people are fortunate enough to experience, and I am extremely grateful for being given the opportunity, as it provided me with a much clearer insight into my future career path.
