    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My internship over the 8 weeks was fantastic. The way they intergrated us as a group of interns making sure we socialised and was comfortable with each other before we came into the company ( we had 2 socials before we even started! ) My work was challenging and well organised, the product team I worked with were super helpful and the nicest guys!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team really wanted to know my opinion. In a male dominated environment, and with myself being a young female, they were generally interested in my input. The HR team who organised us were also sure to make us feel valued, they displayed us and our presentation all over the company! Moreover, they exposed us to so many senior leaders ( even the CEO)

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Our support was to such a high level. Even before start date all email queries were answered quickly and in a friendly manner. Thoughtout we was in constant communication with HR and was never made to feel a burden. Within the product stream anyone and everyone would help, be it asking general questions to taking time out of their days just to explain their role and opinions on the company to me!

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was a very healthy level of busy. All interns were given a group task, where we worked in groups of four to then at the end of the 8 weeks do a presentation of our ideas to senior leaders within the company to compete against one another in a dragons den style contest! Moreover, the product team were sure to keep me busy and challenge me with several relevant projects to what they was doing. Everything I did was of value to them.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility. My intern task was to organise a customer feedback evening. Which I then ran, decided the testing topics and measures and concluded the findings to the product team. Moreover, I was also tasked with creating an internal newlestter in which I had to design the newsletter and distribute this to senior members of the business.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My internship was invaluable to be from a learning stance. I learnt so much, and with a degree in business management which covers several areas of business this really guided me into eventually changing my final year university modules to better suit a career in product / project management. Moreover, with this being my first 9-5 office job, the whole experience I’m sure will benefit me once I graduate

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Office atmosphere was great. Being in East London it kept the trendy vibe, my rebooks fit right in place Everyone was super kind to us, we was welcomed and everyone’s happy to say hello and give you the time of day! The atmosphere was very sport focussed aswell, being there during the World Cup I never missed watching a game with TVs everywhere showing the game!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had so many lines of contact. A buddy within our team, our line manager, and a mentor ( someone from outside of our stream) They was all there to help us and support all of our tasks, be it our intern tasks or our team work. Moreover, all 8 weeks were laid out from the start and everything was maticulously planned for our benefit

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided us with several intern socials and made all effort for us to enjoy ourselves ( so many free drinks ) We also were invited to GVC summer party like all staff were and was included like normal full time employees We was also very well paid and there was a grad scheme place for all of us ( it was up to us to work hard enough to earn our place)

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are evident and many young people are climbing through the business and earning promotions around us Moreover, the grad scheme opportunity is incredibly appealing with great salary, benefits and even travel opportunities! Moreover, with everyone in the company being so nice, all it makes you want to do is work there!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had several socials. A crystal maze experience before the internship started to all get to know each other. We then had a quiz and drinks night on our first day. Aswell as being offered lunch together once a week at lunch and learn where we also got to meet more senior leaders within the company. We also got to go go-karting and play ping pong at a bar as our closing drinks!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being in the office near hackney wick, it was very expensive. There’s no cheap lunch, and even the Stratford Westfield close by didn’t offer ‘cheap food’ ( not even a meal deal offer in M AND S. Plenty of social oppuritnies with bars and restaurants right under the office along the canal!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was good. A free shuttle over to Stratford and plenty of bars and clubs around that the team seemed happy to go to. My only comment would be with the interns being noticeably younger than other members of staff, going ‘out out’ isn’t as common as younger industries, however there is always someone willing to go to the pub after work!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Oppuritnies were there, but with the World Cup being a busy time for the company many things like their weekly football games were cancelled ( it was also the hottest summer ever! ) But there wasn’t heaps of oppuritnies, it was mainly socialising as groups drinking and eating in local places.
