    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was extremely well organised. The 8-week long internship was packed full of both social and corporate activities. We, as a group of 16 interns all working within different departments had collaborative projects as well as individual ones. The company embraced all the interns and really invested in our time there. - very enjoyable

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked as part of the End-User Services department within Technology. The team really embraced myself and the other intern into the team. We were given real projects to work on, responsibility to figure out different stakeholders as well as taking charge of customer meetings. it was nice to be valued and given responsibility.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers were very supportive. The support system was organised before we started. We were assigned a line manager, to whom we would report directly. A buddy, from my assigned group to help with coding and any questions. A mentor, from a completely different department to help with impartial advice and explain the business.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The 8 weeks were intense. It was a real test of our individual time management. There was an 80/20 split of time. 80% being individual projects within our teams. 20% being our intern projects ready to present on the final day. We also have a 'Meet you senior Leaders' objective to get senior exposure.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was put in charge of my own project and so had customers and stakeholders and was responsible for keeping people informed, gathering information as well as building a solution. It was surprising to be given so much responsibility, I really appreciated being trusted within the team to present my work and push it into production.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Within the team, I scripted in JavaScript, this is something I had not done for years so it was good to build up that knowledge again. I also used new database software which I will potentially use to develop my own personal project next year. We also had public speaking training which was very useful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Working on the technology side of the office, I found it a very social and collaborative team. the general atmosphere was good, people were keen to help and always engaged with the interns. Our team would have daily stand ups and they always encouraged us to join in and ask questions.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Meera did a fantastic job! from the assessment day being thorough and engaging, to the last day of the internship there was always a clear pathway of activities. We did volunteering, go-karting, ping-pong, day-long seminars and coaching. The weeks were packed but we were always aware of exactly what was coming next.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Development was core to the entire internship. We were all invested in continuously. Public speaking was made a priority skill and we went on two separate half day sessions with very experienced actors and comedians. We also developed our tech skill and coding languages. i have left the company with much more confidence.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are really investing in future talent. We were continuously approached for feedback, surveys and focus groups etc. Given that we were the first group of interns, we were somewhat guinea pigs and they really put effort into trailing different things to get the most out of us but also to sell the company to us.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had a pre-internship Crystal Maze challenge to meet the rest of the interns. So many social event, drinks with team, go-karting, team lunches.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was in London, which could be seen as expensive but we were well paid and luckily I already lived in London.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has a great nightlife, the bars around Stratford are great, there are so many options.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to socialise outside of work with the teams or other interns.
