    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very much enjoyed my time at Accenture. I completed a three week Summer Project through the Teach First grad scheme. During my time at Accenture I was placed in a project where I felt I was trusted, given responsibility and challenged. I developed both leadership and practical skills in PowerPoint and Excel, and enjoyed working with my team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • During my time at Accenture, I was treated professionally at all time. Everyone at the company was welcoming and respectful. The people I interacted with were very willing to share their experiences with me and answer my questions. I felt valued as I was trusted to carry out tasks and received positive feedback from my line manager and team.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During the internship I felt supported by the team on the project I was placed on in the sense that everyone was very willing to answer my questions and explain things to me when I asked for clarifications. I was also allocated a "buddy" during the programme that I felt I could have reached out to should I have needed for support.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During the internship I developed valuable skills in relationship building and stakeholder management that I know I will be using in my career and studies. I also enjoyed developing practical PowerPoint and Excel skills - I even went on an Excel training day, and those skills will also be useful to me in my current career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • For the Summer Project, the first day was an Induction Day. This was well-structured with a clear schedule and itinerary. The second day was an Excel training day that I enjoyed attending. Following that, we were placed on projects. My project was organised and someone from the team explained how to arrange all the logistics e.g. where we will be based, how we get to client site, how to book trains and hotels etc. Overall, it was well-structured.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I enjoyed the culture at the company and the general atmosphere was very good. Everyone at the company seemed polite and welcoming and despite being an intern I did not feel that people looked down at me or patronised me. The working environment both at the offices and at client site was pleasant too.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • During my three weeks at the company we were given the opportunity to attend an Excel training day. This was extremely useful and I used some of the skills I learnt that day during the internship. Other than than, I attended an internal training session in Tableau and I was also given the opportunity to attend online training sessions.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I felt that my time at the internship gave me a good understanding of what it would be like to work for the company as we were placed in a project for the majority of our time. This meant I gained first-hand experience of what a project at Accenture is like. However, it was only one project and other projects may be different.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I felt that I got a good glimpse into the company's culture. I was able to speak candidly to individuals from a wide range of fields and with various roles (Analysts, Consultants, Managers and Senior Managers). Everyone was very willing to answer my questions and seemed open about their experiences.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I enjoyed getting an insight into the company, its culture, its people and what working on a project might be like. I was lucky to be paced in a fast-paced project where I was given a lot to do. My experience solidified my wish to enter the field of consulting.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The Summer Project was paid and I that the pay was adequate for a three week internship. As I had to travel to client site for my project I was also reimbursed for my travel and stay at client site, as per the company policy. Overall I feel I was paid adequately for the internship.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Over my three weeks I felt encouraged to network and meet other people. During our induction day and even our assessment centre we were able to speak to other people at the firm, usually Analysts or Consultants. We were also encouraged to seek out networking events. During my time on my project my team also encouraged me to network and meet new people.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • During my time at Accenture I was invited to attend a networking and socialising event that gave me the opportunity to meet new people. I also felt that the people at the company were very open to networking and socialising. I was able to spend some time with my team in a social setting and with the other interns, however this wasn't strictly "organised".

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • During the induction day we were told about the extracurricular activities that are available at the company. We were given a brief overview of the "societies" people attend, the types of events available and we were given an overview of some of the internal roles that people can sign up to.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this Summer Project to anyone interested in consulting and Accenture. I really enjoyed my experience and my time at the company. I felt that I learnt a lot, I was challenged, and I was given the opportunity to further key skills. Overall, I would say this is an excellent placement for anyone looking at furthering their understanding of the consultancy and technology sectors.
