    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at Accenture. I think it has given me a great idea of what consulting is like and has allowed me to build an accurate picture of the business itself. I was given lots of responsibility and had the opportunity to work on a client site.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • During my placement, I was given a lot of responsibility and was trusted to complete work which would be used for the remainder of the project. Colleagues would regularly feedback my progress so I knew exactly what I needed to improve or change throughout the experience. I did feel like a valued member of the team.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was able to ask anyone for any guidance I needed at any point. I did not feel uncomfortable setting up a meeting or asking any questions to people in my team or within the whole company. We were paired with different buddies who we were allowed to contact at multiple points, this was an additional form of support.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This placement has helped me to understand what I want to do next and has confirmed the idea that I want to become a consultant. It has helped me to develop team skills as well as develop my skills in excel and data analysis which I will be able to take forward.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very structured. The way in which it was organised made you feel like part of the company from day one. The team I was in allowed me to fully integrate, join meetings and introduced me as an employee rather than an intern which was a nice touch.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Overall very positive, people have negative things to say about every company but seeing both sides gave me an accurate picture. The team I was in was very strong, very positive and had a great atmosphere throughout the project. People were very positive and willing to help at any point through my time here.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company sent us on an external excel training day despite the fact we were only interning at the company for 3 weeks. I was surprised that they had booked us onto this and it demonstrated that they were invested in us doing well within the projects we were placed in. In addition to this, the programme offered 'on the job' training which sped up my development.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think the insight has given me a very good idea of what it is like to work within Accenture. I was given a range of work, able to work with a number of teams as well as attend meetings and meet deadlines. During busy periods we did get involved and take some of the workload from others which gives me an accurate picture of how Accenture works.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through talking to so many other employees at Accenture and attending social events, I believe I have developed a good idea of the company culture. People within the company are very honest and have helped me to understand the company culture within Accenture. Even with three weeks here, this has been made possible.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This project has helped me to gain a better understanding of what it is like to be a consultant. It has solidified my initial views of consulting and has helped me to understand where I have the potential to go in the future. The three week placement has effectively shown me what I need to see and learn to know what I want to do.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid and reimbursed by Accenture through the three week internship. I was paid a competitive salary as well as expenses to stay at a client site with travel and hotels. I was able to chose the same hotels as existing Accenture staff and had freedom to do so.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities to network within the company. On the first day we spoke to analysts, consultants and had 'buddies' assigned which we had regular contact with. In addition to this, I was able to network with people in my team. The culture at Accenture is centred around Networking and this is fully integrated into the programme.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Networking events were a great opportunity to meet other people and learn more about the company. There were multiple opportunities to network and we were actively encouraged to do so.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, we were given an overview at the beginning of the project. This includes teams which you can join and other societies. It was difficult to know what you can get involved in when you are at a client site and it was not clear if societies and sports clubs continue at this point.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would recommend this insight to a friend. I think it is a great way to learn about consulting and has given me the opportunity to rapidly develop skills. The company makes you feel a part of them and managers give you responsibility and trust in projects from the beginning.
