    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Well organised with lots of talks, meetings and opportunities to learn about the company and meet people from a range of different departments and level of experience. I was given plenty of work to be getting on with and was able to follow some projects through from start to finish enabling me to understand the whole process.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were always happy to see me in the morning, involved me in conversations and office chat. As well as taking the time to talk through certain projects which I wasn't even working on just to get a better idea of the type of work my department does. They gave me work which had more responsibility as the month went on, so I could tell they valued the work I had previously completed.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors were always happy to talk things through with me and to go over certain areas or calculations which were particularly tricky a few times to make sure I had got my head around the topic. They were also very helpful in giving me advice on the process of applying for a grad scheme.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Always had work to get on with, but sometimes had to wait for someone to return from holiday to enable work to continue with certain projects. Towards the end of the internship, jobs were starting to run a little low, but I was still given tasks to get on with or had time to work on my report and presentation, which was appreciated.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was allowed to complete a lease extension valuation on my own with the guidance of my graduate when it came to slightly complicated calculations. Also calling up and chasing estate agents in Exeter for sales brochure and comparables, previous companies have not wanted work experience or interns to make calls.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a great deal throughout the month, I now understand lease extension, how to read leases created in the early 1900s, how statutory rent capped proprieties work and the rent reviews undertaken. As well as general excel, telephone and office skills to become a professional in the workplace

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed, friendly, teamwork, funny

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, with multiple department talks given by almost every department in the office. Kept our calendars full, which made the month more interesting with different things going on every day. The HR graduate team were very helpful at rearranging certain meetings and talks to suit your team's schedules. Also a good level of communication before the internship started.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My department and team took time to make sure I understood what was going on in the team and the projects I was involved with. They wanted me to learn and improve my understanding of the sector and the company as a whole. Allowing me to undertake tasks on my own improved my skills I had previously learned

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to return to Savills and the Margaret street office, after only working here for a short period of time of one month. I can already see myself working here in the future and undertaking my APC training through the company with their amazing support system already in place.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Social drinks were arranged with the interns in the first week, as an ice breaker allowing us to get to know each other better. Then throughout the month, other opportunities for drinks and meet and greets were provided, enabling us to meet people from all over the office and hierarchies of the office.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was relatively expensive in the local bars and restaurants, but fantastic location on Regents street with hundreds o options for lunches and drinks after work closer by. Very convenient, which meant the interns socialised after most days of work and got to know each other all quite well. Cavendish Square park in the summer was also a fantastic location for lunch every day.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were multiple bars and restaurants close to the office, which made socialising after work incredibly easy and dangerously tempting. Local night clubs attracted interns and graduates from other local property companies which was great to be able to network and meet other interns in the same industry as your own.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were sports teams in tennis, touch rugby, golf, netball, softball, rounders and probably lots more. I offered to play in the netball team, but unfortunately the dates I could play they were already full, but I could not play on the days hey had space. Apparently everyone is very welcoming and gets involved.
