    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship a lot. I was given a relevant trainign 3 days before the start where I was introduced to the tasks I would be completing throughout my internship. I was given a good amount of work to complete throughout the 9 weeks. I was also included in other company outings and activites that enabled me to make friends and feel part of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • i felt valued by my collegues in terms of responsibilty with my work. I also felt my team valued my well being and I had regular meet ups with my buddy and manager throughout my internship. The rest of my collgues made an effort to make sure the interns were included in other company activities such as Aon fives and the JP morgan run.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was fairly busy throughout my internship with a steady influx of work included transfer values and excel work for real clients. There was also a lot of internal training to complete if you foudn yourself with not much to do. We were also given a group project witht he other interns at the start of the program that we could work on when the work load was more quiet.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair bit of responsibilty throughout my internship. I had to calculate transfer values for real clients that woudl be checked by people higher up than myself but would be billed to the client. I was able to sit in on a team meeting. I did not meet any clients however this would not be expected as an inexperienced intern.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed a lot of confidence in contacting and arranging meetings with other collgues throughout the business. I also developed my presentation skills through the CSR group project that was a task set at the start of the internship. I learnt technical knowledge about pensions and how to present calculations clearly.
