    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement, especially the opportunity to explore a new city. I do wish there was more structured work for me to do during my time here, such as set work for all finance interns so we learn more about all the different finance functions not just our teams. I also think it would have been better if more effort was made into making sure interns met each other, for example by hosting events.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone made me feel extremely comfortable within my team, however I wouldn't say I felt valued.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager has been amazing, I really feel he's made sure that I enjoyed this experience and has given me good work to get on with. He has given me a lot of guidance in areas where I haven't understood and has also helped me develop my CV slightly.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I did get bored at times as there was not much work to do. However when given work I did feel I had a lot to do and I enjoyed being busy. I would've liked to been given more work and learning online as I feel it would have helped my development. I have really improved my excel skills but feel it would have been good if there was a course we were set to do.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a few projects to work on and take control of, however I had to ask for work to do on a number of occasions. My lie manager set me a big project to do that I worked on for weeks and I am really proud of the outcome. I enjoyed the charity challenge and finance project as it gave me more responsibility and things to work on.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My excel skills and personal development will help me greatly in the future. Dealing with professionals on a day to day basis will help me in future jobs. I feel more prepared for interviews and dealing with different types of people at both university and at work in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really great atmosphere, there was always people chatting and a nice feel in the office. It did feel quiet at times when lots of people were working from home on certain days. My team always had a morning huddle meeting which brought everyone together and meant that everyone spoke to one another. A very friendly environment.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was quite well organised in some aspects such as the charity challenge, the finance project and also the weekly online learning that was set. I do feel the work could have been more structured to make sure we always had something to do, such as all finance interns having set work so we could learn about lots of different areas within finance.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot more than I expected. There was always a new weekly challenge to get on with or a different video to watch. The videos have greatly helped with my personal development. It would have been nice if there was more IT help as we don't learn IT skill sat university.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think that the firm would be great to work for as there is such a great culture and friendly work environment, however I would have liked it to be more dynamic and fast paced, it felt too relaxed at times. The random location aspect of the graduate scheme makes it less appealing.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene, it was nice being in a flat of 5. It would have been nice to have the opportunity to meet interns from other locations as I feel it would have given us a chance to meet more people who are interested in similar things.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Really great nightlife, I would definitely come back to Leeds. I have loved getting to know the city, there is so much here, lots of great bars and clubs. I wasn't too pleased being placed in a city so far away from home for the internship but it has given me a great opportunity to learn somewhere new.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 2/5
