The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at Tesco. The work environment was really amazing and I loved being given responsibility from the start. I did my internship in the Fruit department and my team always helped me and made me feel very welcome. I was given a lot of exciting opportunities whilst working here and had a lot of fun through out my time at Tesco.
I felt really valued by my colleagues. They were all very friendly and welcoming. Although I had my big project to do, I also had smaller ones on the side which made me feel like I was contributing something to my team. I think that my work could make an impact at Tesco which assures me that my work will be used.
My Line manager really helped me through out my internship. I always felt that I could ask any number of questions and we would sit down and go through the problem to ensure that I understood how to solve it. My manager definitely taught me a lot and helped me develop my technical and leadership skills.
I was always relatively busy. I was given a project at the start of my internship and worked on that everyday. On top of that, I would attend meetings and go on supplier visits. The meetings and visits gave me an insight into the business and they also meant that every day was different.
I feel like I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship. My main project was quite important and once it's finished, it could have an impact in terms of saving money for Tesco. I also developed skills such as financial reporting as I did the weekly numbers for kiwis. I loved the fact that I was given a real life project and that it could be applied to make a change in Tesco.
The skills that I developed here will really help me in the future. I learnt a lot about myself and my work ethic by doing this internship and the training that I received will be so helpful to me at university and future work. I really enjoyed my time at Tesco and I am really lucky that I developed skills for life.
The Company
The work environment is amazing at Tesco. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and most people I've spoken to seem to really enjoy what they're doing. It is a very busy and exciting atmosphere.
The internship was very well organised. From the induction to the various masterclasses the interns had the opportunity to go on, it was very well structured.
I definitely gained a lot in terms of developing my technical and leadership skills. I feel like the my project and my daily interactions with colleagues helped me gain skills for life.

I really enjoyed my internship at Tesco and would love to work for them in the future.
The Culture
We were given a chance to participate in a charity challenge in groups with other interns. This gave us the opportunity to get to know other interns from different functions.
I'm not sure as I didn't live in Welwyn during the internship.
From what I heard from the other interns living in Welwyn/Hatfield, the nightlife isn't amazing. However, the Tesco head office is very close to London (25 mins to kings cross).
Yes, there were. I would also see people playing football or netball on the courts near the car parks.
