    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I absolutely loved my work placement here at Warner Bros. They are an incredible firm to work for and I could not have asked for a better place to spend my year. Warner Bros is not only a fun place to work but the culture and people in Warner Bros made my experience invaluable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues was very helpful and always there to answer any questions I had. They were approachable and friendly which made me feel welcomed and allowed me to settle into the team quickly. They would schedule in bi-weekly catch ups which allows us to discuss the progress of my work.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At the start of my placement, my manager and supervisor would schedule in training sessions on the main tasks that I will be completing over the year. They would guide me on how to do it and the purpose of why we carried out the task/project. Once I finished the task on my own, my supervisor will check it to see if I had done it correctly and provide necessary feedback.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis, I would have certain tasks that I will need to complete by the end of the day such as uploading/updating charge codes into SAP and investigating goods receipt vs invoice received issues. During month-end, my work load would increase significantly compared to when it isn't month-end. However, the tasks are all manageable.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. There were several projects I was working on and not so much of ad-hoc duties such as printing/filing. My team gave me work that involved the use of Excel formulas, pivot tables and running macros when refreshing the costing reports.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I've learnt during my placement included: time management, organisation skills and attention to detail. These 3 main skills I will continue to use throughout my studies and future work. They are all essential in being more efficient when carrying out a task and will produce a high quality work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was very relaxed. Occasionally, when we have our quiet periods, we would turn on the radio but at a level that is not distracting to others. However, during our busy periods the atmosphere in our office tends to be quiet as everyone is trying to concentrate and complete their work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My work placement was very organised. The Learning and Development team organises a training schedule plan for all the interns and apprentices where we are put into groups and have to attend compulsory training sessions such as Presenting Me and Project Building. We had a total of 6 training sessions + an end of placement review session.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • During my placement, I was told that I was able to choose a training course that was most applicable to me. I decided to go for the Excel Intermediate training course in which was very insightful. I learnt various formulas and short cuts and now I feel more confident in using Microsoft Excel.

  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Working at Warner Bros will look fantastic on your CV. They are a huge and well-known entertainment company. The skills I learnt during my placement will be transferrable to any team and the responsibility I had during my year will have a positive impact in my future employment prospects within the organisation.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were about 50 interns and 20 apprentices during my placement year. We would tend to meet up for drinks after work/organise social events to socialise and network with one another. Furthermore, the training schedule organised by the Learning and Development team where we was in groups with the interns/apprentices allowed us to socialise and work with each other.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I lived at home with my parents and I commute to work, I cannot comment on the cost of living. However, my friends had mentioned the cost of living is manageable and socialising in Central London could be quite expensive. Nethertheless, researching cheap bars/restaurants around the area will allow you to budget.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in London is amazing. There are plenty of bars and clubs around Central London which is easily accessible via tube/bus/walk. It tends to get busy during the evenings of Thurs-Sat. As there are many interns/apprentices at Warner Bros, it was very enjoyable and fun to socialise with them after work.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are volunteering opportunities that Warner Bros have on offer. I took part in re-decorating a children's playground based in Islington. This were exclusive to only Warner Bros employees and it was a fantastic day! Furthermore, there are charity events such as the SleepOut event organised by CentrePoint which takes place in November which was also great fun and allowed employees to raise money for a good cause.
