    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I began to enjoy the placement much more towards the end of the year. I was given the perfect level of responsibility for my role and by getting to know colleagues I was able to get involved with various other activities outside of the role. It was very open and people were incredibly supportive to help me grow.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt incredibly valued by colleagues. I was given appraisal when necessary and also told how to improve myself when needed. There was a perfect balance between responsibility in order to give me enough workload but also not be too stressed. I feel like the managers and leadership were fully equipped and did an amazing job with a a placement student.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and guidance was readily available whenever I needed it. There were various points when managers were out of office or I was unable to contact people but a second line of contact for support was always there. I feel like the system put in place by the company also aided in the ability to reach my initial goals and objectives for my placement.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was eased into the daily tasks at am appropriate speed. I was not too busy nor too relaxed for 99% of the placement. Some days were incredibly busy however I felt this was a necessary challenge of the placement and it helped me push out of my comfort zone.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Towards the end of the year I was give much more responsibility which I believe was a very necessary part of the year. I felt like a valued member of the team and my thoughts and ideas were always taken seriously. I feel that the team was absolutely amazing and each member of the group taught me something new.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was given the opportunity to go on various training days and as part of a team we we constantly looking at ways to improve. Going back to university I feel much more equipped for my final year and believe that this placement year was one of my biggest years of personal growth I have had.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Positive atmosphere within the office on the whole, however the office was the more dull section when compared to other buildings/floors. I feel like this was not a bad thing however and it did not impact the placement itself. Overall the office space had a positive vibe and everyone working within the area was willing to help.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organized. Managers were able to help with everything and those who setup the placement were very organized. One major downside is that the placement organisation was very much marketing focused and therefore many of the recommended training and information was not suitable for other areas of work or placements.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of time and money was invested in order to develop my skills and ensure that I was not only equipped for the job itself but also for going back to university and understanding my future. I feel like the managers and colleagues spent a lot of time ensuring I was set for the future.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel like the company as a whole was absolute amazing to work for and it was opened me up to further employment prospects within this area. Going into the placement I was unsure on the area of work but I feel it has greatly improved my overall skills and allowed me to see a different side of working within this industry.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good scoail scene amongs fellow placement students, both placement students and graduates got along very well. One area for improvement would be to include all placements to go on team building days, not just for marketing or finance. I feel there should have been more opportunities for all placements and graduates to get involved with certain things, not just those within the marketing sector.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living for the area was good, socializing was great within the placements and I believe that this could not have been improved through the placement organizers. The use of the facebook page was greatly helpful and all placements having the ability to get involved with everything allowed us to connect with each other very easily.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlift was great, various different activites to get involved with and good friends were made throughout the year. Within the different sectors there were often different parties and nights out and I feel that having such a large group of placements greatly contributed to this. I do not think that this could have been improved by the placement organization.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many activities, including football matches, charity walks, group challenges and other various charity events to get involved with. There are various different opportunties to get involved with outside of work including Christmas parties, nights out and of course when with other placement students there are always drinks at the weekend.
