    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The programme is poorly structured: very little social interaction with other interns or other departments, the teams don't have concrete projects, HR is testy when you contact them. They don't want you to learn about the business outside of your team and actively discourage you to. It's a shame because the people there are very willing to help but department heads will try to hold you back and discourage you from finding your own fit, vastly different from the culture at other competing firms.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My manager and team were great and tried to help despite HR. They assigned meaningful projects and answered questions and were never too busy (even though they had loads of work) for me. That being said there is a big lad culture in the firm, particularly on my floor, and I felt treated poorly by some others on other teams.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was great but superiors at a higher level were not great and self absorbed. They did not want to hear non positive feedback on the internship programme even though there are certainly areas of improvement, especially if they want to maintain a world class company.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had work but was able to get it done pretty quickly. There seemed to be no structure to the programme so they didn't really have enough work for me to do.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a decent amount of real responsibility in the work that I was given, which was nice.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Some skills such as Excel will definitely help but overall I wish I could have learned more.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is sleepy but that may be because it is summer, but many work from home.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Compared to other similar firms, very poorly organised. Seems like an afterthought by HR.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There should have been much more training - there maybe was something once a week.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Between the culture and the lack of movement between departments at the firm, I would not want to pursue further employment prospects with this organisation.

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was ok, but was independently organised and nothing was done or encouraged by HR.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • None

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No opportunities given
