    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had so much fun during this internship. All my colleagues are very nice and approachable. Members of other departments are also very helpful and willing to teach me.

  • My colleagues valued my contributions to the team and also applied some of the materials that I created in the fund management and operation process.

  • My line manager is truly the best and supportive. She showed me what kind of managers I would like to work for in the future and gave me a lot of career guidance as well.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days are busier than the others. But overall this industry has good work-life balance. I've never worked later than 7:30.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given reasonable amount of responsibility as an intern. Some tasks are more complex than the others so I got to experience them all.

  • I've gotten the chance to apply my current skillset, improve them and learn something new.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People are very concentrated with their work but very fun and chilled overall.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Since this is the first placement after the merger, HR is re-structuring and re-organising. Overall they did a good job but could improve further.

  • There are a lot skills sessions and personal character test. I got to learn about myself better.

  • It's a great company to be able to start my career with.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A big group of interns normally hangout once every two weeks but smaller groups have met up more often

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Edinburgh is fairly reasonable compare to London but still quite expensive

  • It's always fun to go out around here.

  • Edinburgh has quite a lot of activities to offer, especially during the summer
