    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Extremely enjoyed Working at HSBC for a Summer Internship in Commercial Banking. I specifically worked in Real Estate, in which I carried out Credit Remarks and Tenancy Schedules. I thoroughly enjoyed it as I was given a lot of responsibility for an Intern and was able to work with real life examples to see future developments.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues, they all were happy to help me when ever I had questions to ask. in addition, they were always willing to tell me where I can improve and thus this meant that I was able to help Senior Management with assisting their workload. As a result, I was able to add value to the team and thus was a valued member of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always given support and guidance by management whenever I needed it, even if they were busy in the middle of something, they would still be able to assist me with any queries that I had. In addition, I was able to seek feedback from them with regards to work I have submitted and able to get pointers on areas to improve upon, and an indication on how to improve on such areas.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a Day to Day Basis I always had the opportunity to be extremely busy and maxed out on capacity. this was always down to me, as in I had the option to be busy or not to be busy. If I wanted to be busy, then I was able to by seeking more work, but if I found I was too busy, there were times when I was able to cut this down.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility - The Relationship Managers gave me work that they usually are in charge of and as a result I was given the same responsibility as they have. Even when I went I was given work, a lot of it was used by the Manager and just re jigged so I was able to work in real life situations.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Two Main Skills I have learnt were: Time Management - I have always had Good Time Management Skills, however after completing this Internship I have now got Great Time Management Skills that are now related to a professional environment. When I get work in, I try and do it straight away, as oppose to sitting on it for a while. This will be useful in my degree, when it comes to organising my time effectively and be able to manage my Uni Workload. Confidence - I have become more confident to talk to Senior Staff, Clients and other Colleagues. This will help with my degree, as I will be able to be more confident when approaching tutors to ask for help.
