    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed every part of it. Everyone made me feel very welcome in the office and within my team, and it was great to meet all the other interns who were in a similar position to me.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very much so. For the first day at the office I have been given jobs that would normally be given to graduates, but I was trated as a full time membver of the team. I was invited out on meals out and drinks with the team along with the summer party and honestly made to feel like I had awalsy been working with them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of work and a lot of responsibility very quickly, however at first this seemed very daunting, I was given support by every member of the team, and they would actively help me to learn when we were out on site and similar.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very. However with someone of my mindset this was a great thing and something that helped me learn and that I really enjoyed.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the end of my internship, I was being expected to go to a site on my own, and sign off bits of work that a contractor had completed, to say that it was up to standard. As well as this, I was teh main point of contact on multiple jobs since other more senior people were on leave etc during my time.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe they will significalty help my degree and stduies. However time will tell.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always a great atmosphere in the office, everyone chats and are all interested in what you are up to in your free time and where you have been at teh weekend and similar. Similairly it is interesting to find out what everyone else has been up to. There was no shortage of going out for team meals and social events which was also fun.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. Right from teh start when I had my interview, all teh HR team were very enthusiastic and polite and they would always call you up whgich to me was a lot more personal than simply emailing you. Once at the company, I had a mentor assigned to me, who was fantastic, and made sure I was always busy. Throughout the internship regular social events were organised for us, and a project which were all very enjoyable and helped me to get to know the other interns.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had multiple trasining events organised by the HR team, this involved a lot about presentaion skills. These presentation skills varied from personal skills and how you should stand and your personal appearence to how best to help all the different types of learners (kinestetic etc) to particiapte and engage with what you are presenting. I learnt a lot in these.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, very much so. Apart from the events that were organised for us, there were multiple times when we went for social events, this could have been for lunch or other similar types of events.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The socialising was good, and when I was out with the team I was not generally expected to pay for drinks as after all, I was still considered a student. The cost of living was high however, and making my own packed lunch helped save me a lot of money.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reasonable, however I was based in Mayfair, so I couldn't really afford to go out.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, I was invited on many different activities. This inviolved rounders with the grads in my team as well as other activities. If I was stayting longer with the company there would have been various other team activities and events that I would have had teh opportunity to have got involved in.
