    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I couldn't have enjoyed my placement year more. I have been supported endlessly by 2 wonderful managers, who have allowed me to take on responsibility of significant tasks enabling me to learn and grow whilst contributing to large projects.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team of 11 I worked within always treated me with trust and respect. Entirely like a family, the team welcomed me with open arms and passed on a large amount of work for me to take on. Throughout the year they always appreciated that I was moving through a learning process, and would answer any questions or queries I had not only about work but about the industry within which WB sits with honesty and care.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support an guidance throughout the year was frequent. I had regular catch ups with both my line managers - once a week we would sit together for a full hour to review my to do list, current projects, future goals and presence within the business.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I can confidently say I was not once bored over the year. My workloads was at some points too much, but my managers looked after me enough to check in frequently with me and either take away work from me if I had been given too much by other teams/ external clients, or allow me to take on bigger tasks if I had the capacity.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My level of responsibility gradually increased over the year. I began taking time to adjust to office life, taking on daily and weekly admin tasks and learning about the industry in detail from the team. I was allowed time enough to become comfortable in my role - my team operates as the central point between numerous different teams and liaises directly with many external clients meaning there are many names and faces to get to know. Once I was comfortable, my responsibility increased dramatically and after Christmas I was managing campaigns in full on my own.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so much this year about how the industry of film, in which I hope to work in the future, operates. I could not have learnt the insides of an industry without being able to see it first hand - no class room or text book can allow to such insight. Time management, communication, team work, presentation and management skills have all also been fostered in me this year. These will allow me to excel in future working environments.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office environment at Warner Bros is friendly, open and welcoming. There is a family atmosphere present in the office. Even during excessively busy periods there is a healthy attitude to ensuring individuals take enough time to be calm and have moments away from their desk to refresh.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Warner Bros take pride in their placement year programme. They have an organised structure, that can be flexed by mangers per the needs, requirements, specific interests and skills of the individual intern, but are always supported with a general backbone of training programmes throughout the year and weekly required catch up with managers.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My year has been highly tailored by my managers to consider my talents and how to best support and develop them. Along with all WB interns, I have taken part is multiple day long training programmes such as Excel training, Presentation skills training, Personality tests and working to your personality training etc. Along with my managers curating tasks I undertake for the team to develop specific areas in me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • In the team I have worked in this year, 4 members were past interns with WB. Numerous members of other teams in the organisation have also been through the WB intern programme. Although there is no graduate scheme specifically in place, there are often opportunities for entry level roles to be taken on by ex-interns once they have graduated.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With 50 interns at WB, and the majority of them working in the same building and often in direct contact with each other as the first point of call for any requests form their individual teams, a good social scene among the interns developed. Being keen to participate and actively being involved with events and outings as a WB intern is highly recommended. The interns during my year have become close friends with whom I will stay in touch with in the future. My colleagues were also a fun loving team who often initiated drinks after work and social events.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living and socializing in London is very expensive. This comes as a given as London is the capital city of England and one of the most expensive cities in the world so I was expecting to have to be careful with money. It is manageable to still be able to socialize if you are sure to monitor spending after rent and travel each month.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London is huge and has many different Nightlife scenes. There is something for everyone in London and you can always find something to do - even if you have to be careful and budget in advance for it!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many opportunities through Warner Bros to get involved in volunteering opportunities and charity fundraising activities throughout the year. There was plenty of opportunity to be involved with social activities too with both other interns and colleagues.
