    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I wouldn't say it was the best job that I've ever had, seeing as this was my proper 1st job and I cant really make a direct comparison, but it was most definitely worth it. The balance between work, friendly environment and great supervision made the job very enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I'm involved heavily with my team, being involved in important meetings and presentation. We also go out for a drink after a successful presentation we carried out and had a very casual conversation about work.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I've been handed a lot of materials to read that will help me to be a good manager in the future as well as the current role that I'm involved with

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It has its high peeks and low peeks but I've always had something to do/work with which kept me going on a day to day basis

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Sometimes it was too much responsibility, some things that I couldn't manage so well due to the lack in mechanical/electrical engineering skills, but that was dealt with quickly by delegating the jobs to the site engineers

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt something new on a daily basis that would surely aid my future career prospect

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We have a lot of work load that we had to get through, so we didn't have too long to chat often, but when we did, the engineers jokes and banter were always a good laugh

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • initially, it was quite dull and they asked me to do the odd job here and there. As soon as I proved myself worthy they saw potential in me to do greater things, they gave me jobs that would have a direct impact in the work place which was challenging and exciting to work with

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Obviously, the people at work have their own jobs to deal with, but I was always given support and material that I needed for the job straight on or at any time I requested them. Overall it was very supportive and I felt as if i was an important member of the group

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • My supervisor and my line manager seems very happy with the job I'm carrying out and the graduate program here seems well structured, planned and the prospect of being a manager after 2 years of the graduate scheme feels very welcoming.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • They do not have that many students here on the factory site and we had 1 event so far where all the UK factory placement students met up to have a chat with one another

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live quite close to work and it is quite inconvenient for me to travel to town. This was a personal choice that I made. However, my house mates are working professional similar to my age and we have good laugh and have a great social life

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Haven't been out much to comment on this topic. Again, personal choice

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Been on a walk in the welsh mountains with work colleagues, there are a lot of events during the weekends to see and the city (Liverpool) has a lot to offer

    5/5
