    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • American express is an excellent place to intern given the warm culture and type of people it attracts. I enjoyed my internship as I met a diverse set of interns with similar interests an caliber. The social organized y the HR team were exceptional as we got to socialize with the interns outside the workspace( both MBA and undergraduate interns).

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team was very considerate and ensured I always had someone to look out for if I needed help. I was also given a project to complete individually which ensured the work I did was not repeated and was used for further AMEX projects. During team meetings, I was given the time to update on my progress so far to ensure everyone could provide feedback for my project.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was very supportive throughout the internship. He planned the project and was also always there for the support when needed. He also out in meetings on alternative days to see how m progress is and for me to give updates. Apart from the project, he also gave personal tips to navigate the different divisions and made personal introductions as well.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was kept quite buys given the scope of my project. Along with at, since I had to learn a new coding language, I always had something to do during my 10 weeks at AMEX. Since we were encouraged to meet the otherline managers as well, this always meant we were working to meet different colleagues.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During the summer internship, each intern was given as an individual project, which we had to work with. this project was the final deliverable- for our final presentation at the end of the internship- which was assessed. this project was one of the problems AMEX is facing and I had to perform analysis to understand to root cause of the problem and a potential solution for the same.
