    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the 8 week internship very much. It has given me a real insight as to how Handelsbanken operates. I have gained valuable experience in banking and feel that I have learned a lot.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All employees of Handelsbanken are very personable, and everyone in the bank is approachable and willing to help. Each employee gave me time, and supported me in my development.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a huge amount of support during my 8 weeks. With my manager having a daily discussion to see how I was getting on and developing. Dedicated mentors would also communicate with us interns on a weekly basis and I felt I had someone to turn for help to at all times.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • During the 8 weeks at Handelsbanken I wasn't once sat with nothing to do. There was a variety of tasks for me to fulfil, and employees had empathy understanding that a variation of jobs was the best way for me to learn, and stimulate me in the role.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A large amount of responsibility was given during the 8 week internship which was pleasing. However as It is a bank, it is difficult for the bank to designate us certain jobs and tasks.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The 8 week internship at Handelsbanken was very beneficial in developing my work place skills. As It is a relationship bank you engage with customers on a daily basis, therefore communication skills was one that was enhanced. Attention to detail in the bank was vital, so these skills matured hugely through out the 8 week period. On the whole it gave a flavour of the Handelsbanken, and somewhat prepared me for the working world.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The culture of Handelsbanken is one that is very sociable, therefore employees are very welcoming and ensure you feel apart of the team.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was well planned out with a weekly objectives list for interns to follow. However the internship encourages interns to be accountable for their experience with the bank. Therefore it is open ended allowing us interns to take responsibility for what we engage in.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Handelsbanken largely invested in me as an intern. Administering interns with various roles to experience the operation of Handelsbanken, and engaging with developing work place skills.
