    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great relaxed company and the people who work there are fantastic. You get a large exposure to a range of parts of a company. The work was challenging but flexible so that you are able to complete the work in the manner in which you would like to do. Would definitely recommend.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone in the company is very approachable. The directors made an effort to speak to the interns and made sure that everyone felt welcome. Everyone is also very helpful if you have any questions and they treat you with a huge amount of respect. It is very easy to get on with everyone and there is a place for everyone at this company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • On a personal level they give you a large amount of support and was able to help me. When it came to the working guidance they expected you to be able to work out many of the problems you had to begin with. However, the help was there if you got especially stuck on something.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I wasn't busy throughout the entire internship, but this is not the only company I have experienced this at. There was plenty to do though. It was a good level as there was many things to complete if you didn't have any work from your line manager. A good balance!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a large amount of experience throughout the internship. They gave you the ability to do work that will be important for the future of the team you are in. They allow many of the interns to run events for charity to contribute for more than just the company.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained a large amount of skills that will be helpful for the future. I was able to see agile methodology in practice. Thus allowing me to get a better understanding of how it relates from the lecture theatre to the real world. this is a vital skill I will retain.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office atmosphere was great. People are always having a great time and it is a really relaxed atmosphere. The casual dress code allows people to express themselves and there are groups for a huge range of areas for employees to get involved in. Like a football group, a group that runs and a group that likes to bake.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The original interview and application process was a bit disorganised but once I joined the company everything was well prepped. We got all of our laptops on the first day with the applicable software correctly installed. We also had events that were organised throughout the internship for us to take part in.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Throughout the entire internship they were checking what skills I would like to develop and then change some of the work that I was doing in order to match the skills I wanted to develop further. They also allow you to access linkedin learning to develop more of your skills.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are a lot of opportunities for you to return for another internship or possibly into the graduate scheme. They have a talent team that meet with you during the internship to see how your development and how you are enjoying the internship. They also ask about you being interested in returning to the company.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a really good social scene linked to this company. There was a summer party as well as team lunches. They also organise night outs that everyone is invited to if they wish to go out. There are also sport clubs like running and football, as well as bake sales and charity events.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously socialising is not going to be really cheap due to the company being situated right in the middle of the city. However, the company does often allow put on events for you to get involved in. This is things like when the football world cup was on they put on TVs to watch the games.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The bars in the city are really great. There is a huge range from 'cheaper' bars like Brewdog that is within a 5 minute walk of the office, whilst there is also places like SkyGarden and City social that are close but are like no other bars I've ever been to.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is a small number of opportunities to get involved in such as the 5-a-side football and the running club. There is also some small number of opportunities to get involved with a charity but they come from the charity itself. However, many people are happy to form small groups all the time.
