    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • On rating the insight I would give it an 8. I have really enjoyed my time in Valuation. I believe staying in one team, albeit perhaps missing out on expanding my knowledge of new teams such as Hotels and Leisure and Offices and not working with as many new people, has allowed me to gain greater knowledge in the area of Valuation and follow through with projects and see at least a couple from almost start to finish! I've loved getting to know a variety of people throughout the office and pushing myself to talk to people and learn more about valuation.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Within my specific team I feel very valued and part of them. I've been not only set tasks which I can easily do (which has helped build my confidence) but furthermore tasks to push me to allow me to learn more. This is something I've very much appreciated. I have particularly enjoyed working with the Graduate on my team, who has made sure i'm ok and tried to explain everything to me and not only help me with work in the office but that in future and at university. At an office scale, the Graduates have made me feel very welcome. They have arranged to go out for drinks and even lunch for our last day. They've taken the time to talk to use about each of their roles around the office, their future and how they got into the job. They've really gone beyond to help us not only in the office and make us feel valued, but have repeatedly told us to contact should we need help in the future. Upon leaving the office I will try to keep in touch and attend out-of-office networking such as with Creation and RICS Matrix events to keep in touch. On a company level, I feel valued with the ongoing updates and reviews. However, I do feel in some ways less valued than those students on the programme in London.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • From my team, I have received lots of guidance and support, but they have also allowed me to push myself and learn for myself, which I am greatly thankful for. I have enjoyed being able to do certain things by myself and with the other Summer Scheme Students as it has made me feel more part of the company. I am particularly thankful for the Associate and Graduate I have been working with. On a company level we received a good amount of support.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe I have developed a range of skills whilst on the programme, from using Circle for Valuation, making phone calls to clients and other agencies, report writing, presentation skills and further networking. I have definitely a breath of knowledge within my team, as well as a variety of more 'basic' skills which can be used throughout the office and my future career. Such as report writing, networking, etc. All skills I have developed and information I have received will definitely assist me in my degree studies and beyond and help me grow as a person. In particular with report writing, networking and confidence.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I believe the insight was well structured, it had a good level of balance. I thought the Departmental Overviews we had were interesting although perhaps more London based and at sometimes not so relevant for Regional Insight Students. I believe the mid-placement review was good to help us sort any issues and discuss problems we could have had.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great. My team was busy which although meant I sometimes did not receive some lessons about Valuation, which the team would have liked to have spoken to me about, I enjoyed 'getting stuck in' with work and learning on the go. The team was helpful, approachable and always there if I needed them. Within the office the atmosphere again was great. The graduates have been particularly fantastic with talking to us when asked and making sure we were getting involved and learning as much as we can.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The Associate and Graduate on my team have really helped training me in the area of work. In particular the graduates have taken an interest in our training and development, talking to us about what they have done to get to their place and our future including university and APC work.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I believe the insight has helped me gain great insight into what working for my team would be like. They have explained lots and given I did not do a rotation, had the opportunity to see projects from start to finish and understand what is involved with the job throughout. Which Is something I have really enjoyed.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was good at showing the company culture. However I believe a lot of this culture and experience it has come from the graduates and their organisation of activities, drinks and inviting us to things which has allowed us to not only meet people in the office but other companies also. Getting to experience The Urban Challenge at Media City a few Savills employees took part in was fantastic. It was great to see everybody involved, support Savills and get to know new people and experience other 'out of office' activities you can take part in.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable. I now know what I want to do in the future and what I need to do to get there. I have loved learning new things every day and getting to work on big projects. As well as getting to meet the people I will hopefully in future work with!

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Although I would have happily done my role for the experience, I believe we were paid adequately for the work we have done in this experience and feel the company were very fair in our lunch-breaks and time off. Hopefully the work I have done for the team will have benefited them.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes. These were particularly well organised from the graduate team. We've been on walking tours, drinks events and even 'out-of-office' organised events which I would have perhaps been too nervous to attend in the past. Furthermore I greatly enjoyed getting to experience company take part in The Urban Challenge. We also took it upon ourselves to network around the graduates in the office, to gain insight about their role, future and how they got into the business.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were good, particularly organised by the graduates for example networking drinks and our final day dinner. I believe they could have been better in the sense I would have liked to be introduced to other members of the company such as Property Management across the way. I would have loved to get to network more and get involved more.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, we got to experience a couple of activities for example we attend the IPMS Breakfast, Creation events and The Urban Challenge. Which are all things I hope to further take part in in future, in the hope to meet new people and keep in touch with Savills employees which I have worked with.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely, I've loved my time here and have truly enjoyed coming into work every day and learning more! I have felt valued, trusted and truly part of the firm. I have loved learning more about one particular area and truly pushing myself to learn as much as possible and expand my knowledge.
