    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement, mainly through the colleagues I worked with and the opportunities that were available throughout.

  • I was valued by most colleagues within the company and this definitely was an essential part of my placement year for me.

  • Most managers within the company give support and guidance when necessary and are easily approachable in most situations.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked in one of the busiest branches in the UK and we were constantly busy, whether that was with customers or just general admin duties. There was always something to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given an adequate amount of responsibility during my placement and this was definitely useful in coming back to university.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Some of the skills will be easily transferable to my studies, especially when working within groups as management skills can be used then.

  • The office was always lively and members of staff got on well with each other to ensure a good balance.

  • The whole placement year was well organised, by having regular training and constantly learning new things.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think on the whole I was invested in by certain members of staff, but I do not feel direct management invested in me or were majorly concerned if I did not want to return.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel that future employment prospects within the organisation aren't too appealing at the moment, however if personal development was there I would feel more appealed to it.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • At the start of my placement we went out more, but this was not a regular occurrence. The work life balance wasn't always there.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I worked in central London so cost of living and socializing was very expensive in reflection to the pay, so it wasn't possible to socialize too much.

  • There wasn't much nightlife directly in the area, mainly restaurants and bars.

  • There were no opportunities to get involved in any activities out of work. Maybe once or twice.
