About You
I enjoyed my internship very much, everyone was extremely welcoming and I settled in very quickly.
I did feel valued, everyone I spoke to listened to what I had to say and took it into account.
I received a fair amount of guidance from online learning resources to virtual classroom sessions. Plus, the people I was shadowing gave my support as well.
I feel that my time management and communication skills have definitely developed. These will certainly come in handy with my further education studies.
The Company
The scheme was well structured for the first half of the internship. The second half was less organised but that was due to the fact that a lot of the employees were very busy due to the department being in their busy season.
The general atmosphere was very good, people were helpful and approachable and I had a variety of different employees to shadow allowing me to have a full experience of KPMG.
KPMG invested a fair amount in my personal training and development. I attended a virtual classroom and I various online training certificates to achieve throughout my internship.
It helped me a lot to find out what a full time role would be like as I was shadowing employees at client sites and in the normal KPMG office. Also, there were a lot of opportunities for me to ask questions and gain a real valuable insight to the roles within KPMG.
The insight helped me greatly to understand the culture at KPMG. I was fully immersed within the audit department and was exposed to all aspects of the business.
It helped me a lot as KPMG employees allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted in order to properly get a feel of what it would be like to work at KPMG and what my role would be.
Everything Else
My expenses have been reimbursed, however my internship has not finished yet so I have not been paid yet.
There was an opportunity to network at the start of the scheme and the induction day at the Canary Wharf office. However, due to the department being very busy there was only one social event organised towards the end of the vacation scheme
The induction day was well presented and I was able to talk to a lot of other summer vacation scheme interns. I have not yet attended the social event though as it is later one in my internship.
Yes, I found out about the various sports teams and societies KPMG employees can be involved in. However, I had to ask about them first.
Yes I would recommend this summer vacation scheme to others interested in having a career with KPMG. As the scheme allows you to have a good insight in the culture of the company and they way it runs inside and out.
