    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The Marketing and Business Development placement was a brilliant opportunity to develop and learn new skills. It provided me with valuable insight into graphic design, events, communications and business development. You are given the freedom to work and complete tasks that add real value to the team. Would recommend to anyone looking to gain experience in the runnings of a business.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The marketing team are very welcoming at every level and created a warm and receptive atmosphere. I felt very accepted and like a part of the team right away and not that I was only a student they were finding tasks for until it was time for me to leave.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] has been great at teaching me the ins and outs of marketing and allowed me to make decisions and complete tasks independently but was always there to add value to my work. It has been incredibly valuable to be able to watch him work and for him to provide training on the technical aspects of the job,

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As with any job there are periods of being very busy and others where it is quieter. On the whole, a good balance and I feel you were trusted with more tasks the more enthusiasm you showed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You were given a great deal of responsibility. In my time at Shepherd and Wedderburn I was able to see documents I had designed or worked on be printed and distributed which was great. I was given tasks such as helping coordinate a photoshoot or work on documents for clients that were important to the business.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement throws you in at the deep end and you have to develop skills quickly in order to be trusted with the more valuable tasks in the future. This was a great thing in terms of learning practical skills and gaining knowledge. I was given training on design software, provided with insights to other areas of marketing and allowed time to complete an external training course online.
