    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • While I am actively enjoying my placement and role I am in, I do think there are other areas of the bank where my skill set would be put to more use and I would be more challenged. None the less my team have been great in exposing me to lots of areas in the bank and allowing me to experience lots of training.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel very valued by my team. At no point because I am an intern have they looked down on me or thought I was 'less able'. They value my opinion and encourage me to challenge to teams norms.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • More than I ever thought I would get on an internship. I have been encouraged to sign up to any training course I want and my team go out their way to make sure I am ok. They have no problem in taking time out their busy schedules to help me and had made me feel very comfortable to ask if I am ever stuck.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very Busy. At no times did I feel 'drowned' in work however, I constantly had things to do. If ever I finished a task there was a big backlog of project I could get involved in and there was never no work to do

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Again, more than I though I would have on an internship. I wasn't doing 'pretend work' or pointless work. Everything I did was actually useful for the team and the bank. I was doing projects that the whole team were involved in and nothing was just to give me work to do.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In more ways than I thought possible. I have been challenged to think in ways I never have before. I have been challenged made to think in new style that I believe will be so useful in my final year and uni and in my career

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very positive. People were encouraged to leave their desks and not spend all day there. This along with the flexible working and encouragement to have a good work/life balance made everybody in the office a bit happier.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised in my case.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Again, so much. They genuinely cared about my interests and invested a lot of time in ensuring I got some exposure to the teams that I had more of an interest in. They allowed me to do lots of training courses and really have given me a great start to my professional career.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As a company vey appealing and I would love to return to work here. However, in terms of my personal skills and interests it would need to be in a team that I feel I could excel in and my skills were more suited too

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, WE had lots of socials organised through RBS and with the help of combined with the grads for their events. These helped to spark friendships and lead to lots of un official socials too

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being from Edinburgh and living here my whole life this didn't affect me

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In Edinburgh as a whole very good However, with the office out of the centre it is a pretty unsociable place to be in terms of after working hours,

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes lots. Like I mentioned before lots of opportunities with the Grads, Offical internship ones and also outwith internship
