    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at GT. Everyone at the company is very friendly and welcoming and are happy to help you in any way they can. It was also nice to be given responsibility to complete specific tasks for example creating working papers, helping others with aspects of testing which allowed me to contribute to the file as well as testing my own ability.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • During my internship, I spent 4 weeks at a client site and our team was made up of 4 people including myself. We were quite a small team, but from the day I started they made me feel as though as I was actually a part of the team and not just an intern.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support given by people at GT is very good and is not just from managers/ supervisors. I worked closely with a placement student and she was very supportive from the first day I started. She made me feel that I could always ask her questions, that no question is a stupid question and was always happy to help me even if it meant stopping her own work to do so.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The first few weeks was really busy as we were mid-way through the audit. As my time at the client site approached the end, I was less busy only due to the fact that most of the work was completed and the audit had gone very well therefore there were few problems.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a bit of responsibility. - This is not just an internship where you will sit there and shadow someone for 6 weeks. This internship programme allows you to complete work that you would be completing as an A1 and be given tasks that will overall contribute to the audit report.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was fortunate enough to go to Bradenham Manor for a day and a half to learn about presentation skills. The activities and tips we were taught were not just applicable to our final presentations at GT but any presentations we will complete in the future. I feel that the presentation skills I learnt during the 2 days will be applicable in my studies.
